Former Red (briefly) Justin Germano takes the hill today. With the Reds’ rotation status being what it is, would be nice to have some depth like Germano has provided to the Padres.
Doesn’t matter what’s on FOX – I think they have an exclusivity clause so that no other televised games compete with their Saturday game. No games, anywhere.
Well, that is pretty dumb. Why start it at this time? All it accomplishes is ensuring that I can’t watch the game. Why aren’t they catering to my personal needs?
Well, there’s that, but also I posted something that didn’t show up. Lots of times if I put a link or multiple links in a comment, it gets quarantined in the aggressive spamfilter.
Wow, I didn’t even notice the pitchcounts, though. Germano a little high at 83 through 5 innings, but Livingston has needed just 49. That’s Maddux-in-his-prime territory.
So let’s try answering this question again:
Hey, when did Great American Ballpark get that fancy pitch-tracker technology on MLB.com’s GameDay?
July 27th against the Cubs was the first game the pitch-tracking equipment came online. It’s acted a little funny at times, especially initially, but it’s very cool.
I’m stuck here in the Air Force until the end of October so I won’t see any of this dreadful season. Real nerve racking because no one wants to hire someone this far out and I’ve got a house to sell if I have to relocate.
Intentional walk to Dunn with Griffey on 2nd. Maybe Keppinger and his hot bat can get a game winning RBI.

Chad, does one of the rules for the spamfilter involve links to a redlegnation page? Because anytime I try and link to an old gamethread, or the salary chart, or whatever, it gets spam-quarantined.
Livingston has pitched to the minimum 18 batters through 6. And only 59 pitches to do it. Hopefully he’ll get a bigger lead and/or sparkling relief work (if necessary) to get him a win.
I went to the Lookouts game Thursday night but wasn’t feeling well so I left after 3 and a half innings (or almost 2 and a half hours). While I was there it was one of the worst and most boring baseball games I’ve ever seen. It Montgomery’s starters first game in AA and he couldn’t throw a strike. And it seemed the entire Chattanooga order couldn’t help but swing anyway.
Oops, didn’t mean to send that already. Rosales looked good, with a walk in the 1st and a double off the wall to lead off the 2nd. Nothing else notable. Game time temp at 7:15 was 97 degrees. I’m going to try to catch Matt Maloney’s start, but I’m not sure if its tonight or tomorrow. Tomorrow’s game starts at 5:00 so it’ll likely be 100 degrees +.
At the start of the season, this game was scheduled for FOX’s regional coverage. However, because of the Reds dreadful start, the game was dropped from the schedule.
The only remaining question is why the game time wasn’t switched to 7 p.m. I guess it’s because it was too late to add it to the TV package.
Anyway, Livingston has done everything right today–except leave 8 Reds on base.
Sometimes the pitch-tracker is a little wacko. It’s gotten better at GABP – the first few games with it a few weeks ago were pretty bad – but there is still the occasional bug.
After two long extra innings losses, this game is nice and relaxing to watch. I’ll call it the Livingston-Keppinger show. The two guys we all would have expected at the beginning of the season, yeah?
7 runs in the final two at-bats make it 8-1. Great easy opportunity to give the over-worked bullpen a complete day off. Livingston at 86 pitches entering the ninth.
Maybe he could have put an end to that 11th inning mess last night. Adam Dunn’s throw to the plate was close and would have held them to one run (er, maybe it was two..?).

Okay, I guess it’s because of Fox.
But are you getting the Reds on Fox in your area? I’ve got the Dodgers and Cardinals.
Former Red (briefly) Justin Germano takes the hill today. With the Reds’ rotation status being what it is, would be nice to have some depth like Germano has provided to the Padres.
No question, DA.
Doesn’t matter what’s on FOX – I think they have an exclusivity clause so that no other televised games compete with their Saturday game. No games, anywhere.
Who’s left in the rotation, anyway? Harang & Arroyo & . . . Livingston & . . . uhhhhh . . . Dumatrait, I guess, and . . .
. . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
I know, DA…but the Reds must be on Fox regional coverage for them to be starting this early. Otherwise, the game would start at 7 tonight.
But I have the stupid Cardinals game on Fox instead of the Reds broadcast.
Maybe Homer Bailey is ready to return to the rotation.
It appears that the Reds are not even on the slate of Fox games at all. So absolutely no idea why it’s a daygame today, much less a funny starting time.
Double play. Excellent.
Well, that is pretty dumb. Why start it at this time? All it accomplishes is ensuring that I can’t watch the game. Why aren’t they catering to my personal needs?
Hey, when did Great American Ballpark get that fancy pitch-tracker technology on MLB.com’s GameDay?
The advanced mlb gameday pitch-tracking equipment went online in Cincinnati on July 27th. It’s seemed a little wonky at times, but very cool info.
Are some comments getting caught up in the spamfilter?
Probably just the fact that no one can watch the game..
Well, there’s that, but also I posted something that didn’t show up. Lots of times if I put a link or multiple links in a comment, it gets quarantined in the aggressive spamfilter.
How about this game that Livingston is having? Unfortunately, Germano is matching him perfectly.
Wow, I didn’t even notice the pitchcounts, though. Germano a little high at 83 through 5 innings, but Livingston has needed just 49. That’s Maddux-in-his-prime territory.
Cardinals are playing the Dodgers tough. Or the Dodgers are still the same team that almost got swept by the Reds.
I’ve got an interview for a job in Louisville this week. That would get me out of Alabama and close enough to watch some Reds games.
Or you could watch Coffey and Hamilton and Saarloos and Belisle. Keep in mind that they’ll inevitably play extremely well while there.

And he does! And now Javy with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Boo-ya! Keppinger comes through in a big way.
Boo-ya! Keppinger is a professional hitter.
Yes, DA, some got caught in the spam filter. Sorry about that. I’ve restored the ones I could find.
And good luck on that job interview, Jared.

Wow, I was questioning having him bat with runners in scoring position but a shutout through 6 on 59 pitches is awesome.
A fastball right down the middle on the 60th pitch doesn’t help, though.
Well, that only took one pitch. Tied at 1.
And thanks, Chad

You can’t get any hotter than Keppinger.
Keppinger with the go-ahead RBIs again!
Is there a way to see Livingston’s pitch count on MLB GameDay while the Reds are batting?
Breaking it open, 5-1. Thanks, Gonzalez!
Yes, Jared – in the boxscore to the right side, all the way at the bottom it lists pitchcounts.
How did Livingston even reach that pitch to pop it foul?
Jeff Brantley gets so down over the trivia questions when he gets it wrong. Even whiny. Buck up, dude, the Reds are winning a good game!
And the 8th inning is history for the Padres. Looking like a complete game win in under 100 pitches for Livingston?
WHY THE GAME STARTED AT 3:55
At the start of the season, this game was scheduled for FOX’s regional coverage. However, because of the Reds dreadful start, the game was dropped from the schedule.
The only remaining question is why the game time wasn’t switched to 7 p.m. I guess it’s because it was too late to add it to the TV package.

Did anyone notice ball 1 to Hatteberg was right down the middle? Is that a bug with the pitch tracker thing or with the ump?
Wow. Two more homers for Ankiel today. Good for him, he’s an amazing tale.
Sometimes the pitch-tracker is a little wacko. It’s gotten better at GABP – the first few games with it a few weeks ago were pretty bad – but there is still the occasional bug.

Okay, Giles had 2 homeruns on the season coming into this series. Now he has 3 more in two days.
Its a shame Giles has to spoil Livingston’s numbers with runs that don’t mean anything. What a game for him.
Hey, Bill Bray in a low-pressure situation. Not a bad place to let him make his season debut.
Wow, that Ellison has some kind of arm, and the Padres are already taking notice.
Maybe he could have put an end to that 11th inning mess last night. Adam Dunn’s throw to the plate was close and would have held them to one run (er, maybe it was two..?).
5-run loss yesterday, 5-run win today. It all evens out.
Nice job by the pitchers today.
How about Rick Ankiel?! 3-4 with 2 home runs today! Unbelievable story.
