Rookie Leagues

Is it just me or is anyone else disappointed with the overall performances of the rookie league teams? Last years draftees have performed very well and are moving up in the organization, this years not so much. The key for this organization is to scout, draft and develop without making too many mistakes. The big club will never improve enough to compete if we don’t build through quality drafts.
Actually, last year’s draftees didn’t move up last year either…a large number of guys were putting up big offensive numbers at Billings, but stayed there all season.
In fact, Logan Parked talked about it in his interview with RN…
Also, the ‘07 Reds draft seems to be much younger, more high school draftees, so you would expect most of them to possibly struggle early and be promoted more slowly. Everyone isn’t a Jay Bruce coming out of high school.
Point taken, Bill. I also realize that minor league team success is not necessarily the best indicator for future organizational success. It just seemed to me that we had some players that moved fairly quickly this year from last years draft. I guess my biggest concern is also our biggest need – pitching. Looking at the GCL, I don’t see alot of promise.
