Remember when Ken Griffey was sick with pleurisy and missed about a week? I remember thinking he looked thinner after he returned. Check out these numbers:
As much as I enjoy watching this guy, can anyone tell me why we wouldn’t trade him if he gives the go ahead? He’s 3 things: 1. a great player who should’ve moved to right 3 years ago, 2. a play away from being a contractual albatross, 3. Old, with a fast approaching expiration date. The only logical scenario I can see for keeping him is the one where you consider yourself serious contenders next year (which means you hold Dunn by default)—a catch lightning in a bottle kind of team. To me, that seems like a long shot bet at best. Yeah, no one relishes the risk of getting equal value in return (trusting Kriv is a whole ‘nother issue), but it’s still the logical move if you’re serious about competing with a solid young core long term. Like the White Sox did when flipping Carlos Lee for Podsednik, a reliever, and a free agent acquisition w/ the $$$. 3 players for one.
Sultan, I’m one of those guys who thinks they’re close to contending, so yeah, I’d keep Dunn and Junior (understanding that I’m taking a gamble in counting on Jr).

The only thing I can say is they’re going to need a hook to put butts in the seats and his going for 600 is about all they have in that regard.
