Even if he gets the win today and goes to 2-0, Bailey is not pitching anywhere near All-Star level yet. Maybe he’ll start dominating once he gets the opportunity to pitch against NL clubs.
Did Jered Weaver go to the All-Star Game last year after his fast start? He was 6-0 at the break . . . with a 1.12 ERA.
Why does Narron continue to put him in the game? He is horrible, what is so hard to understand? Majek comes in and blows it. Stop being so stubborn and stop playing him.
Why is Narron so stubborn with the horrible bullpen pitchers? He keeps throwing Coffey and Majewski. When will he learn that their stuff is not good and they are horrible?
Another problem…the Reds have no one at AAA who can get ML batters out. And don’t say Salmon because he can’t either. Bill Bray is a long way away right now, too.
Majewski stunk, but it was Homer that walked the first two batters. One thing we do know after two starts is that he has control issues. I’m wondering if everyone who thought he was ready still thinks he has nothing to learn at Louisville?
He completed 6 and had the lead. His pitch count was 101. If it had stayed at 93, wonder what the score would be?
I’m not so sure that everyone thought he was necessary ready
That’s not what I said. And I also didn’t say that Homer won’t be alright.
He’s inefficient due to control problems. In 11 big league innings, he’s thrown 215 pitches. That’s a lot. I hate to see him keep logging that many pitches at this level just to figure out how to locate his breaking stuff. If he can do it at Louisville while being more efficient because AAA batters are easier to get out, it will save wear and tear on the arm.
AAA hitters are less likely to be as patient as MLB hitters. I have seen high pitch counts like this from several of the starters. Part of the problem is putting hitters away with two strikes.
What is Bailey’s go to pitch…with 2 strikes on a batter? The heater or the curve? So far when he has two strikes on a batter I haven’t seen him display any one particular finishing pitch.
Not for sure what the schedule was; there was an article yesterday in the DDN about him being ready after going in back to back games over the weekend in AAA

A little late the thread appears:) Angels looking solid. Colon has been on cruise control it seems.
Huh. Gamethread appears an hour after it was posted.
Bailey struggling a bit today, especially that long second inning. 58 pitches through three, and no K’s yet either.
True true. 4th inning looks better.
Anyone ever used ESPN’s Gamecast on a Mac?
Trade Bait to Angels is 2 for 2 today with an RBI
EE with the 6-4-3 DP great.
fast inning……again. Colon is unfazeled today. what a way for him to snap his slump.
Bailey has settled some. Great pitch by Vlad the man….wow.
Great inning by Homer!!
So Bailey has struck out only one – and it was Vladimir Guerrero. Wacky game, baseball.
Have never used ESPN’s gameday on a Mac. But I have used the MLB one, which worked fine.
2 errors by angels gives us a run. Brandon lets get a hit.
Nice piece of hitting by Hatteberg – down just one now, 3-2.
Hatteberg has 3 of the Reds’ 5 hits. Dunn’s got the other two; together, 5 for 5.
Bailey has throw just 20 pitches the past two innings together. It’s earned him some more time on the mound.
Hamilton removed from the game? No update yet.
interesting game that we have here. I like it. Colon looked unhappy that inning. an unearned run will do that for you.
none that I have heard. Bailey looks comfortable after rough start.
Bailey 6 IP 90 pitches. very good since the 2nd.
Bill, I use a Mac. I think I have had Gamecast up and running before.
GRIFFEY!!!
579!!!
Griffey ties it!!!!
Griffey! Just like that, tied at three.
Dizziness for Josh Hamilton. Could be heat exhaustion – too much sunshine.
Colon looking restless
Gonzo needs to make up for last night’s stupid error. He loses focus now and then.
GONZO!!!!!
come on Gonzo
5-3……Bailey will go to 2-0……Awesome.
Woohoo! Gonzalez wraps a flyball around the foul pole. 5-3!
Bailey gets to go 7 I think.
And Bailey is still in the game, too – even better.
Let’s make Homer 2-0!!!
If Bailey is 6-0 at the All-Star break does he get an invite?
Not a good way to start the inning!
Dick Pole to the mound!!!
Snarl and put them away, Homer!!!
Should’ve yanked him after the leadoff walk, especially on a hot day.
Need a K and a DP!!
Up to Gary!! It is time for a new attitude, dude!!!
I like what Brantley is saying about Majewski and 0-2 counts. Put the ball where it needs to be.
Grow some gonads, Gary!!!
Walked in a run; wish I could have a beer at work
This guy has been give opportunity after opportunity. He’s healthy. There are no excuses!
When’s the next bus to L’ville?
Well, Bailey gets to learn about the real Reds’ bullpen today.
Can we cut Majewski yet?
Why does Narron continue to put him in the game? He is horrible, what is so hard to understand? Majek comes in and blows it. Stop being so stubborn and stop playing him.
He has absolutely no clue where he is putting the ball.
Majewski’ ERA is 12.71?!
Bye Bye Gary!! Who up next?
Can anyone in the ‘pen get a batter out on a consistent basis besides Weathers?
Two of the last three losses are due to Majewski while the rest of the pen did an admirable job.
Maybe the ought to have Majewski start a game as an attempt to shake him up.
(47) That looks closer to a zip code than an ERA
Coffey? nope Majik? nope Stanton? nope Cooter? not really Santos? who?
Welcome to the Cincinnati Reds, Homer!
Oh wait…14.29 ERA
We only have 3 1/2 more months of this….
oh wait…15.88 ERA
That ERA is on the rise. One of Stanton’s inherited runners scores, another is on the way . . . safe. Majewski sits now at 15.88 ERA.
Why is Narron so stubborn with the horrible bullpen pitchers? He keeps throwing Coffey and Majewski. When will he learn that their stuff is not good and they are horrible?
Narron is an idiot for bringing in Majewski into a situation that he has failed in time and time again.
Man, Brantley is just dealing on this bullpen right now.
“Somebody’ll pop up and be the closer. Well, you’re gonna ‘pop up’ in last place…”
The problem is, you can’t throw Santos in there. He throws 85 mph. And you can’t throw weathers 3 innings a game.
Their stuff is fine. Their control is what is horrible.
So, 8-5. Also, incidentally, the two runners that Bailey left in Majewski’s care scored, so his ERA balloons to 5.73.
Man, sometimes it’s really hard to be a Reds fan. I will never stop, but it’s really hard sometimes
This is turning into a good ol’ fashioned butt whippin’.
Bailey was fine. After that…crap!
So, 9-5. Ugly.
I wish Bailey would just unload in the locker room on Majewski and Stanton. I wish the entire team would unload on them.
The Angels are in it to win!!!
The difference between a Mike Scioscia team and a Jerry Narron team.
Another problem…the Reds have no one at AAA who can get ML batters out. And don’t say Salmon because he can’t either. Bill Bray is a long way away right now, too.
Mercifully it is over
Majewski stunk, but it was Homer that walked the first two batters. One thing we do know after two starts is that he has control issues. I’m wondering if everyone who thought he was ready still thinks he has nothing to learn at Louisville?
He completed 6 and had the lead. His pitch count was 101. If it had stayed at 93, wonder what the score would be?
I’m not so sure that everyone thought he was necessary ready. It was just time for him to come up and learn at this level.
Homer is doing fine and will be all right; the bullpen on the other hand…
Ross seems to be in a zone. Came up just short on that one.
Come on Hatte go 4-4
Reds – 137 pitches
Angels – 107
Trade bait coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd
Dunn got a hit with runners on base and two out!!!!!!!!!
Edwin I command you to hit a game-tying homer!!!!
Edwin I command you to grab your glove and RUN to third base
Java time
Todd Coffey, I command you to not suck for a change
I’m not so sure that everyone thought he was necessary ready
That’s not what I said. And I also didn’t say that Homer won’t be alright.
He’s inefficient due to control problems. In 11 big league innings, he’s thrown 215 pitches. That’s a lot. Who is this Richard guy that Brennaman and Brantley are talking about?
What is Bailey’s go to pitch…with 2 strikes on a batter? The heater or the curve? So far when he has two strikes on a batter I haven’t seen him display any one particular finishing pitch.
Almost forgot the Paris Hilton news for the day:
She is back in regular jail after almost a week in the medical facility.
I suppose it depends on the count.
Let’s load them up for a game winning Grand Slam in the bottom of the 9th!!!
BTW, nice job by Coffey in a non-pressure situation.
Come on, Reds!!! Give us something great to talk about!!!
Ex-Red Brandon Watson looks to extend his AAA hitting streak to 40 games tonight.
BTW, what’s the timeline on Guardado?
It’s a start!!!
Any one of the next three guys can tie this game…
Well – no matter how bad the bullpen gets, it’s funny how the Reds always seem to at least bring up the tying run in the ninth.
Please don’t walk Griffey…Please don’t walk Griffey…Please don’t walk Griffey…
It is up to Dunn
Hit the homer then get traded…
Dunn in the hole
Fizzle
They at 5/3 last night that they thought Eddie would rejoin the team in Seattle
Is he not way ahead of schedule?
If Narron EVER uses Majewski again, he’s an idiot! If talent were dynamite, he wouldn’t have enough to blow his nose.
Not for sure what the schedule was; there was an article yesterday in the DDN about him being ready after going in back to back games over the weekend in AAA
The Reds are 3-7 in games that the Majewk Man has appeared in this season…
I’d take Cormier over Majewski any day!
