Earlier, Bill announced our Players of the Month for the Reds minor league system. Now it’s time to reveal the Redleg Nation Player of the Month for the major league club. This one should come as no surprise.
Ken Griffey, Jr., is the Player of the Month for May 2007. The legendary slugger had a month that reminded everyone that he can still play this game.
During May, Kenneth slugged 10 homers, second-most in the majors (behind Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder). Griffey batted .306, with a .403 on-base percentage and a .595 slugging percentage, for an outstanding 998 OPS. He also drove in 22 runs during the month, which trailed only Adam Dunn among Reds.
Really, though Scott Hatteberg and Adam Dunn had outstanding months as well, this wasn’t a close race. In fact, Ken Griffey, Jr., was a unanimous selection among Redleg Nation editors for the award.
Congrats to Ken Griffey, Jr., our Player of the Month for May.

April 2007 Player of the Month: Josh Hamilton

Don’t forget about Brandon Phillips in the honourable mention. His 22 game hit streak happened in the better part of May.
Ken Griffey Jr was a great choice for player of the month for June. I cant believe how the idiot sports announcers in cinti have been picking on him for a few years now but now that he is hitting and playing like his own self again, Now they want to jump on his bandwagon. What a bunch of two-faced people we have in cincy. They can all go to h—. Jr is still one of the best of all time.
