24 year-old Carlos Fisher (Reds #11 – 2005) continues his fantastic year throwing 8 innings giving up 4 H, a BB, and an ER., while striking out 8. He has a 1.16 ERA with 35Ks, 23 H, and 9 BB in 31 IP. At Sarasota he had 41 Ks, 34 H, and 7 BB in 41 IP.
23 year-old Tyler Pelland (Reds Sox #9 – 2002) had a rough outing giving up 3 H, 2 ER and a BB with a K. His ERA is now 3.74 with 44 Ks, 44 H, and 19 BB in 43.1 IP.

Notice the starting pitcher going against Sarasota yesterday? Former Red prospect Zach Ward. Pitched a pretty good game (7ip, 1r, 5h, 1bb, 5k.) He has a 2.51 ERA for the season.
Excellent control numbers for Ward, and extraordinary GO/AO ratio, and a nice ERA, but it is a pitcher’s league. (We have to be partisanly pessimistic about him now that he’s in another organization.) He’s also got a 2-7 record – obviously he won’t amount to anything, because wins and losses are all that matters.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Pelland in the bullpen, to this point. Most outings have been fairly awe-inspiring, but then he’s had a couple of downright-awful innings. Also, he helped beat himself last night with a throwing error – his fourth E of the year.
I think I missed something, but why did Justin Germano go back to the Padres? Did the Reds release him? Anyway, with the Padres this year, he is 3-0 in 4 starts with a 1.08 ERA and 0.76 WHIP.
Germano:
1. Reds traded him for Cormier last July.
2. The Phillies put him on waivers in late March after he had a very poor spring.
3. The Padres claimed him and put him in AAA.
4. He rocked the Pacific Coast League to the tune of a 1.69 ERA in 5 starts.
5. Called up to shore up an injury-depleted starting rotation, Germano has a 1.08 ERA in 4 starts with the Padres.
