Boy, the Astros are rotten, aren’t they? How many games have they lost in a row? The Reds are on a winning streak!
Okay, Aaron Harang vs. Wandy Rodriguez tonight at Enron Field. I could preview the game, but I have a more pressing question that deserves an answer.
In Monday’s game thread, Chris posted this link to an article on the “Least Photogenic MLB Profile Pictures.” Tonight’s starter, Harang, made the cut at #3, with a bullet. We love you, big guy; this is all in good fun.
Well, it has come to my attention that this list is woefully inaccurate. Here’s my question: how could anyone put together such a list and exclude tonight’s starting pitcher for Toronto, Jesse Litsch? Click the link, and you’ll see what I mean.
Okay, enough fun; let’s get back to discussing Reds baseball.

Chad-That may be your best post all year. I was shocked to see that he wasn’t from Kentucky (ha ha). OK, I’m ducking now
Isn’t Pinellas Park where the carnies go for the winter?
Oops, that’s Gibsonton, just across the bridge.
See ya Narron! That was quick!
Man, Narron got tossed before they show us the lineup!
RBI single by Gonzalez. 1-0 Reds! Nice start
What did Narron do?
Regardless of what you think, no one is as ugly as this guy: Willie
Arguing balls and strikes. Gonzo squared to bunt, ball was low. Gonzo pulled back but pitch was called a strike.
2-0 Reds.
RBI double by Griff. Still no outs
The Reds with a lead in the first inning? That’s a novel concept.
3-0 Reds
RBI single Dunn. 1 out
Dunn with a hit with a runner in scoring position. Coming on the heels of last night’s sac fly, it’s a new Dunn!
This could be a long night behind the plate with this ump. Some questionable calls early.
EE with yet ANOTHER pop up in the infield. On a 3-1 count.
RE: comment #2 above.
I thought Wrigley Field was Piniella’s Park.
Man, the Astros look terrible thus far. Dunn should’ve been picked off!
Chris W loves Willie McGee. It’s an unhealthy obsession.
That was the best stolen base I’ve ever seen
This is a little late in the inning, but no matter how much people complain on here about Hopper, I like him. We just have to face the fact that we are not a team that can spend all kinds of money and a guy like Hopper is doing a solid job.
How is that not an Error?
Willie is so ugly he’s beautiful!
Official scorer ruins Dunn’s streak e3
Ryan WHO?
I’m kind of liking Hopper…
Hopper isn’t doing badly, by any means. But let’s be honest, a player of Hopper’s caliber only gets any amount of playing time on a team as bad as this one. Hopper is a 5th outfielder on a good team. Now, he’s probably a decent 5th OF, but that’s all he is.
3-1 after two innings.
I’d love to see EE hit a three run homer here.
E4 instead. I guess I’ll take that.
Man, the ‘Stros are just bad, aren’t they?
We’ll take a Biggio error instead . . . and Wandy is on thin ice here. Lucky he’s facing Castro.
Castro helps save a run in the previous inning in the field, but he certainly took at least one away from his own team with that first-pitch-swinging pop-out. Argh.
How can this team seem to be so patient in the first inning and then swing at so many pitches later in the game. Starting pitcher on the ropes and a bullpen that isn’t exactly that rested. Doesn’t make sense to me
Wow – Brantley reports that Hopper has hits in his last 5 consecutive at-bats now.
Hopper is distracting Rodriguez, anyway.
ummm…Norris Hopper sucks.
a .286 OBA? yuck. Think of it this way. He makes an out 71% of the time he strolls to the plate…ouch.
He is good for spare parts, but if you need him full time you will suck…kind of like the Reds do..
YOu don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a person that can put up on OBA above .286
Denorfia last year was at .356
Right now it looks like Castro couldn’t hit a ball out of the infield even in batting practice.
Castro’s CAREER OBA is .270 double ouch.
73% of the time he is making the right turn to the dugout.
Three up, three strikeouts. Harang is ON.
Yep, Harang has found his groove. He really hasn’t pitched like this very often this year.
Oh yeah, and Hopper just reached again.
Harang has 61 pitches through 5. Not bad at all.
Another run. That helps, in case Harang can’t go the distance.
Thought I was watching the Knights of Columbus Reds vs the Rotary Club Astros there for a minute. Great call to send Hopper, don’t know why Gonzalez was moving to third with 2 out though
Hopper, the fastest guy on the team, just barely scores on a double by “Free Fall” (Is Gonzalez a streaky hitter or what?). Did he hurt himself on the play at the plate?
Nice defensive play by Edwin there.
Ya know, I really like Harang. He’s so efficient, he doesn’t walk many, he works relatively quickly. When he’s on, he’s a joy to watch.
It’s a shame that much of America has never heard of him. If he were a Yankee, he’d be a superstar.
And…if he were a Yankee, he would have won the Cy Young Award last year.
Instead, he didn’t get a single vote.
71 pitches through 6 for Harang.
I’m with you, Chad. He’s the man.
Astros owner Drayton McClane is bragging about his new grandson on the Astros broadcast right now.
That’s one lucky kid.
Fourteen in a row retired by Harang. You’re right, he just hasn’t done this often this year – exception being that start in San Diego which, for him, ended in heartbreaking fashion with a balk.
Something weird – check out who’s listed as Harang’s most similar comp. on baseball-reference.
Wow, that is strange, DA. What are the chances?
Of course, as soon as we praise him, he gives up a run and hits a spot of trouble.
Wow never guess that Brian Moehler and Harang would have similar career numbers at the age of 28
I’m kind of sick of hearing “big Aaron Harang” over and over…
Reds have homered 11 straight games… Can they make it 12 tonight?
HELL OF A PLAY, EE!!!
I hate the 8th inning.
What a play by EE I thought he needed to work on his defense in AAA
No Lee or Berkman for the ninth…but can Stormy hold it…OR does Dent leave Harang in?
…and you’ll know who’s still running the team if Dunn gets taken out for defense.
Marty complaining about the trivia question, boy it doesn’t take much to get Marty going these days
If Houston doesn’t like Lidge, can we have him?
Marty doesn’t bitch, it’s not Reds on the Radio. Nuxie doesn’t mispronounce a name, it’s not Reds on the Radio.
On to the 9th. Let’s make it easier than last night fellas!
Who pitches? Harang or Stormy?
Wow, Harang still in!
Harang going for the CG. 2 CGs in 3 games?? Is it possible for the REds?
Ok Dunn out and that position is set to come up 2nd if we go to extra innings
Looks like Narroon is still pulling the strings. Dunn sits.
1 more Harang!
Nice play again, EE!
…And This One Belongs to the Reds!
3 in a row with Arroyo on the hill tomorrow!
3 in a row!!!!
WOOHOOO A winning streak!!!!
and that’s a winning streak
Who are these guys??
Hamilton with 2 more dingers tonight, he will be back ASAP
12 more Ws and we’re back to .500!
The comeback is on!
why not? Colorado and St. Louis after Houston. Not like those are great teams
Isn’t that what we were saying last week heading into Pittsburgh and Washington?
Let’s beat up on Houston, Colorado, and St. Loo like we beat up on the Nats and Bucs!
Ummmm…wait a minute.
Re Chris W: Ouch! But hey, you gotta start somewhere right?
True! I’ll take em however they come. I had said we needed to go 7-1 last week. I think we fell just short of that mark!
Check out theonion.com today
7-1; 1-7…..hey, it’s all how you look at numbers.
We have a win streak going now, so all is right with the world.
Harang give everyone in the bullpen a day off!
