Wow, that was a fun game last night, wasn’t it?
Tonight, Bronson Arroyo takes the hill, so there’s some chance that tonight will be a good one, as well. Opposing him for the Cards is Braden Looper, who provided me with one of my favorite moments at Great American Ballpark.
It will be interesting to see Looper pitch as a starter; he has certainly enjoyed some success in four starts this season thus far.
The game starts at 8:10 Eastern, so everyone needs to be here to discuss what we hope is another win against the hated Cardinals.

Another eight run lead would be nice.
In other NL Central news, Mark Prior is out for the season – again – after exploratory surgery evolved into “debridement of Prior’s right rotator cuff, as well as repair of the labral and capsular injuries in his right shoulder.”
Also, Ben Sheets left his start early today with a groin injury.
Prior may someday be compared to Paul Wilson.

There’s that Hamilton patience again. Leadoff walk – I haven’t paid close attention to Looper, but given that he’s a converted reliever I wonder how good his endurance is.
Huh – Gameday switched it up on me. Now it has Phillips hitting 2nd and Adam Dunn hitting 3rd.
Freel is batting .375. Encarnacion does not have a hit. Narron said to CTrent Freel will play tomorrow. He does not have a hit against keisler.
Let’s hope the bottom of the Reds’ lineup can be productive again tonight!
Hmmm. I was wondering whether Freel was banged up or something. That’s three days off in a row for him.
Nice try by Ross.
Nice catch by Griff to end the 1st.
Good old Randy Keisler. I have a soft spot in my heart for Keisler because of his first game for the Reds (after replacing Danny Graves).
Who is on base? I missed what happened.
Ross looked pitiful there. (This is a recording.)
I had forgotten about that game, Chad.
I like the Cincinnati Reds.
Hamilton has played 88 games since 2001.
Unbelievable.
I watched that TLC show last night that partially featured Josh Hamilton. It really brought home how gigantic a change he has gone through in so short a time. Less than a year ago he was being inducted into his high school’s hall of fame, and at that time that could just as easily have been the pinnacle of his baseball career. And he knew it.
After all the offense last night, we can’t touch Randy Keisler.
I haven’t watched it yet, DA. I may try to watch it tomorrow evening, since the Reds have a day game.
According to ACCUSCORE on ESPN.com, David Ross has an 18.2% chance of hitting a home run tonight.
Not sure what to make of that!
I wrote the post above, and I still somehow thought Randy Keisler was pitching. I’ve lost my mind.
You’re not the only insane one, Chad. You fooled me, too!
What’s funny is that I was thinking of Looper in my head when I typed my post!
Randy Keisler is the career reliever who is starting for the Cardinals tomorrow. Braden Looper is the career reliever who is starting for the Cardinals tonight.
How the conventional wisdom figures them for a division favorite is beyond me.
And cards take the lead
Ugh. Cards 1 – Reds 0.
It looks like the Reds need some love!
On an unrelated note, Jack Black is hilarious.
Nice catch by Josh.
RUNS I WANT RUNS
It’s Hamilton Time!
Feel the Love!!
HR Hamilton!
HAMILTON!
BOOM!
Hamilton cannot be stopped.
That was a shot.
Josh Hamilton = good.
And, yes, Jack Black is hilarious.
I, hereby, declare this the Summer of Hamilton!!!
Dunn needs some lovingQQ
Toggling back and forth between the Reds and the Idol special. Jeff Beck is playing with Kelly Clarkson. Great number!
Junior, pick out a winner!
That wasn’t it!
Besides the all-star performers on AI tonight, Paula Abdul’s breasts are amply on display.
I think they may have been inflated with nitrogen.
Time for the Edmeister to go downtown.
Jim, I was about to mock you for watching Idol until you mentioned breasts. You redeemed yourself.
I’m starting to wonder if ole Edwin’s head is so screwed up that he WON’T come out of this funk this season…or until he is traded away from Narron. He looks terrible.
Edwen 0-3 still hitless against Looper
Breasts are the great redeemers.
A charity show with Jeff Beck, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Bono ain’t all bad! If they just had a surprise performance by Bruce Springsteen.
Edwin’s bad, but Ross is worse.
At lest Ross is getting bat on ball
Night all I get up at 5am
Ross kind of reminds me of Rick Hundley, the later years…except Ross never really had any good years, just a good half…
Hope we have good news for you tomorrow, HK.
Now that Looper is gone I sure would love an eight run lead.
Just got back from a week in the field and it’s nice to see that things having changed much since I left, still hovering around .500 and still not scoring many runs. Come on guys let’s get to this bullpen and give Bronson some love.
What is that, 10 in a row set down by Arroyo? He’s thrown 96 pitches and is likely out for a pinch-hitter in a moment.
Let’s make Bronson a winner by scoring a few this inning.
Is it already the 8th inning? Wow.
Wow can’t believe the difference between home and away for a guy like Freel.
Let’s get some runs…(please)
Need several runs…the bullpen is on for at least two innings.
Don’t scare me like that, DA.
Please hit a couple of homers this inning, Hamilton!
That’s the first time I’ve seen Hamilton look bad.
I think last year Narron keeps Bronson in for the 8th. Wonder if Bronson said he was “done” again?
Ha ha, Jimmy James…
“Dave, if medicine tasted good I’d be pourin’ cough syrup on my pancakes.”
Man, I really hope this doesn’t turn into Y.A.W.A.B.A.S.
(Yet Another Wasted Awesome Bronson Arroyo Start)
All I know is that Bronson had another great start, and the Reds can’t score so he won’t get a win again. He’s been so unlucky this year.
Well, I would love a shutdown performance by the Reds bullpen and for the offense to just explode all over the Birdies in the top of the 9th.
The bullpen comes in…and the first batter gets a hit.
Here we go again. I’m afraid this game is lost. I hope I’m wrong.
How about a twin killing?
Time to LOVE the bullpen!!!
Cards on first and second with no outs. Albert Poo-holes coming to the plate.
This is getting tiresome.
I have a bad feeling about this.
A triple play would be nice.
I would love to see Sarloos throw some strikes consistently.
We only have 3 hits again?
Well, that didn’t take long. I hate this bullpen. You can love them, Jim…I hate them.
Anyone know why Saarloos threw a turd down the pipe with a 2-2 count?
This bullpen sucks!!!!!
Not to put too fine a point on it….
you gotta be kidding me
You just don’t put two guys on base in front of Albert. BTW, where’s Voodoo Albert?
Chris, because he thought he could get a below-average hitter like Pujols out with that crap.
I swear, this bullpen’s act has worn thin. It’s the same thing every night (with the exception of about a week earlier in the year).
Yikes. This looks bad. Heck, Saarloos didn’t even retire a batter.
“There comes a time in every friendship when you have to say, ‘I never liked you – get lost.’”
don’t worry The Kriv will make it better by trading some excess offense, wait there isnt any
I know it’s too late but here is Voodoo Albert.
Good quote, DA. Sums it up.
We need Majewski!!!
So is Isringhausen still a ticking timebomb like he was last year? Reds only have one shot to reel this one back in.
3 frickin hits.
Looks like his last time out, Jason Isringhausen gave up 2 runs to the Cubs to blow the save.
Oh screw these guys.
Nothing like a defensive implosion to complete the night.
At this rate there won’t even be a save opportunity for STL.
Is Tom Hume still employed as bullpen coach? I’m just askin.
At least Arroyo won’t get the loss.
Ok: I think I’ll just watch the first 6 innings of the Reds games from now on. If they aren’t up by at least seven runs, I turn it off and can safely assume they will lose.
Another great starting performance and yet again, more crap from our so-called bullpen.
Good ol’ Tom Doom is indeed the bullpen coach.
Hume is back in the pen but I still find that job a mystery.
Dunn is so selfish and lazy, only hitting doubles once the game is out of reach. SO anti-clutch.
Well, it would be nice if someone would get the bullpen straightened out since Dick Pole has the starters doing some good stuff.
This Cardinals outfield is horrible.
Nice hit by Dunn to lead off the ninth, but where has his power gone? What happened to the days when he’d crush balls every other night or so?
I think Brook Jacoby and all the Marty-like sniping at him over the strikeouts has screwed him up bad. He can’t just be Dunn now.
Is this Griffey guy any good?
Will the aliens that abducted the real EE please return him?
Dunn hit that ball to the warning track the opposite field – I thought he drilled it pretty good.
EE is clueless.
He did drill it pretty good…but how many hard hit balls have we seen from him in the last two weeks? I can’t remember any.
The comeback is on.
Well that might have been the game winner if not for Sarloos.
He hit another double the opposite way a couple days ago, too. Dunn’s never been one for loud outs. If he’s slumping, it’s pretty much strikeouts.
Remember this Eddie?
Haha. Love to see Eckstein boof one. I really hate that guy.
David Ross at the plate as the tying run?
That’s my worst nightmare.
I love it when Eckstein screws up. E6.
Come, Latin PHing Machine!!!
Aaaah, it’s the LLM. Much better, I think.
LLM represents the tying run…
Well, that sucks.
Eddie doesn’t even remember this.
What’s the latest medical report on Bray?
I remember that Eddie, Jim….what happened to him? He was Mr. Clutch last year.
Darn.
Games like this are so frustrating. I can’t imagine how Arroyo feels.
Reds also have Jared “My Real Name Is Levi” Burton on a rehab assignment, which can last another week-plus.
He left Earth in one of these.
I’m sad about Edwin. He always looks so pitiful.
