Dunn – slump or injured?

Since taking the day off for back spasms on April 15th, he’s gone 6-27 with 1 double and 15 strikeouts.

It could be just a slump with very odd timing…or could he be hurt? Anyone with a back problem can tell you that staying on the ball would be very difficult if your back was bothering you.

I have no idea what the problem is, but think the timing makes it worthy of discussing.

Dunn + Bat รท Pitcher With Brain = Strikeout.

Always has been, always will be.

  • Yes, but his strikeout rate since the injury is WAY higher than his career norms (56% of AB’s vs. 33% lifetime, and 35% in 2006).

I think Bill’s point is a very good one. Dunn is a guy who likes to play through pain. The Reds may need to override his wishes and sit him a bit more often to let him re-coup. I’m sure the fact that Griffey’s been sick has made that more difficult, of course.

    That is a very true point Mr Redlegs. Dunn is a modern day Rob Deer I am afraid. HR, K, K, K, HR, K, 2B, K, K, GO, K HR, HR, K, K, HR, K, 2B, K, K in a 20 at bat sequence I fear.
