Dayton is unstoppable.
Man they are. Krvisky needs a HUGE pat on the back for last years draft so far. There are A LOT of players with great numbers. Without studying much I complained the other day about their ages. After a closer look I was wrong. Their are some really good 21-22 year olds….Good job Krivsky. So in 4 years the Reds will be good again!
Congrats Bill you didn’t jinx them!
How’d did they look?
I think Dumatrait is establishing his case to be in line for a callup before Livingston.
Agreed. I would put them in this order
Dumatrait.. Gosling…. Bailey…. Livingston… shearn
They were impressive…other than the defense, but it was cold and at times, rainy.
They play a different style of ball than in the past couple of seasons…whether it’s the talent or management (Donnie Scott returned to manage the Dragons, after Alonzo Powell and Billy Gardner Jr.). (Now, this is the first time I’ve seen them this year, so this take this for what it’s worth.)
I don’t know how many times last night they started a runner from first, and then hit the ball through the hole at SS (and were helped by the SS cheating towards 2B).
Phipps had his second assist at the plate, Stubbs just seems to catch everything in CF.
The only guys that didn’t look good at the plate were Francisco (who’s only 19 and playing his first full season in the states) and our guy, Logan Parker, who looked to me from my seat like he’s really pressing. 2 called third strikes, but he did get his first RBI.
Gonzalez looked more in control than any time I’ve seen him in the last two years. And the bullpen, other than Tabor, looks good.
Prediction…first true promotion of the season (not because of injury) will be Valaika.
Regarding the speed at which players are called up, there was a great story about a Cincinnati local who debuted as a New York Met rookie this year.
He was just drafted last year, pitched just 27 innings in the minors (great A-ball number but with poor AA results) and made the Mets out of Spring Training this year.
So far with the Mets, no ER in 8 innings pitched.
Apologies if this story was already highlighted on this blog.
It wasn’t highlighted here, but its a great story. The Mets didn’t waste anytime with him. and its paying off so far.
Remember Jason Vecchio, who was drafted by the Reds?
