I don’t know whether to laugh hysterically at this article, or to weep. Adam Dunn says he wants to start hitting just like Ichiro, and Reds management acts like that is exactly what they want.
Yeah, it would be good if Dunn added some more singles to the power numbers…as long as it’s not at the expense of the homers (or walks).

So you would rather have a walk over a single? Congratulations. This early in the day and already a boneheaded hypothesis. . . .
I don’t think that was the point….the point was the singles aren’t worthwhile if the power numbers are negatively effected. Turning Dunn into a slap hitter isn’t going to help this team.
I think the Ichiro reference was meant to be a joke. Still, if Dunn can start using more of the field he’ll be a great hitter. He probably has that upcoming contract year in mind too.
Congratulations, Mr. Redlegs. This early in the day and you’re already self-righteous. And great job of deliberately missing the point!
Redlegs got up on the wrong side of the bed today.
I AM very ornery today. Not one doughnut in the house! How could this happen?
well, i think most fans think that a slap hitting singles hitter with a high average who hardly ever walks or strikes out and who steals lot of bases is a lot more valuable than a hitter with dunn’s stats.
if he wants to change to that style, more, um, i mean, less power to him.
but it’s ridiculous to say that he can slap hit, hit all his homers and walk too…
