Baseball quotations

You may have noticed that I have added a random baseball quote generator over there at the top of the right column. If you have any quotations that are Reds- or baseball-related, put them in the comment section below. I’ll add them to the list.

Baseball history is full of great quotations, so let’s hear ‘em.

May not be family appropriate, but my favorite is Rose to Jim Bouton: “F— you, Shakespeare!”

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. – Rogers Hornsby

You’ll also want to co-opt some of Adam Dunn’s quotables over the past few years. I loved his take on Cole Hamels: “His big-league earned run average is 0.00, and I hear that’s gone up since he pitched in the minors.” –Adam Dunn

I still can’t help laughing everytime I think of DevilsAdvocate’s statement after another Reds meltdown this season “Stop this season I want off.” Hope I quoted it correctly.

Good memory, gboll. It was a day on which the Reds lost 11-3 to the hapless Cubs. Eric Milton got the start and retired just one batter.

The grievance with the Nats reminded me about Pokey’s quote about Bowden – something to the effect that “you know he’s lying when his lips are moving.”
