One of the guys on ESPN said it perfectly.
The playoffs should have been the 8 best teams in the AL. They were probably all as good as or better than the Mets, who were clearly the best team in the NL.
The playoffs are a strange thing. Short series. I really felt SD and LA were both better than STL.
Stop me when a team is worse than STL;
NYY, Detroit, Minnesota, Toronto, Angels, White Sox, As, Indians, Rangers and now it gets close, Red Sox? Seattle?
The Cards are clearly better than KC, TB and Baltimore.

PS Remember the winning of the World Series is not definitively the best team
As a fan of the National League as well, I heartily agree with your sentiments. The Mets (albeit with their starting pitchers) were definitely the best team in the NL with the best record. In Interleague Play, the Mets (although a sub 500 team here at 6 and 9) played better against the AL than the Cards who won 4 and lost 11 and went 0 for 3 against Detroit. And at the end of the season it was hard to witness weaker play than the cards. If only the Reds could have had just a decent September!!!

It’s fine with me. Can’t stand the Mets! No subway series – too bad. No New York team in the Series – GREAT!

With a couple of the right moves, the Reds could have been in the World Series. They certainly aren’t that much worse than the Cardinals.
