From Yahoo:

No confirmation that Lidle was on the plane, but reports say that his passport was found on the sidewalk.

UPDATE by Chad: Here’s the ESPN story. Very sad.

UPDATE 2 by Chad: Some Reds made a statement on Lidle’s passing.

A condolences to the nation for living through the fear of thinking it might be another terrorist attack. Yankees and airplanes don’t mix well.

Very, very sorry to hear about this. I really hope more amateur pilots think twice about flying in this kind of weather, at night, around Manhattan.

    Heartbreaking.

Ya know, Lidle wasn’t a very good player for the Reds, but he was a Red, and that’s enough for me. Redleg Nation’s thoughts are with his family.

Any inclination on whether it was pilot error or mechanical issues?
