Well. Things looking extremely good as I tune in – bases loaded, nobody out, 3-1 count on Dunn.

OK, so Dunn strikes out. Nothing to see here.

An error saves the Reds from blowing the opportunity. Should have been a doubleplay on Valentín’s grounder, instead Reds up 2-0.

2-1 Reds. Cincinnati has to go undefeated the rest of the way to finish above .500 .

I guess Castro made a nice play in the field while I was having dinner. Still talking of it on the rrrrradio.

Nice – Castro with a 2-out RBI. He was a black hole of offensive ability in Minnesota, but anecdotally he’s been servicable in Cincinnati.

So nice…Lohse with the 2-RBI double after an intentional walk. Doesn’t get much better than a big hit following an intentional walk.

HOU won today, and STL is losing big.

Not to jinx the Reds, but I like the chances of them running the table and finishing two over. Leading big tonight and then having Harang and Arroyo throwing the next two nights. I guess all I’m saying is there is a shot….. I think San Diego can take 2 of 3 from Houston. That could go either way. I do think St. Louis is capable of losing 2 out of 3 to the Brewers over the weekend. I’m counting tonight as a loss since it’s 8-0….

Granted it’s a dream, but it’s September 28th and we’re still mathematically alive!! That’s got to be worth something.

It is nothing short of amazing that the Reds are on the verge of winning this series, given who they’ve had to throw out there for starting pitchers the last three days.

Please put Dunn in the 6, 7 or 8 hole or even on the bench… He is killing them. 5 RBI in the entire month of Sept… He must get distracted by football season, or just tire out, because he has NEVER finished strong. I like Big Donkey but he has killed the Reds in September.

A long flyout from Phillips and a great running catch by the Marlins CF.

I think the Gameday tracker inflates the distance on flyballs. That out was clearly out of the park.

It’s a win, 5-1 in the game and 2-1 in the series.

    On to Pittsburgh.

  • Not mathematically eliminated yet…into the final series of the year. If you try and tell me you thought THAT was possible going into the year… All in all, it’s hard to be too disappointed (even with the setbacks lately)…

  • St. Louis lost… Reds 2 1/2 out…with 3 left. And the best news: Reds can’t be mathematically eliminated tomorrow now if they win! (St. Louis has an extra game still…)
