The final homestand of 2006 begins tonight, as the Reds take on the Cubbies behind the golden left arm of Chris Michalak. Tonight’s lineup is interesting:
Denorfia CF
Phillips SS
Aurilia 1B
Dunn LF
Encarnacion 3B
Ross C
Castro 2B
Hopper RF
Michalak P
Besides the fact that we’re looking at one of the worst lineups this organization has fielded in years, note the starting shortstop: Brandon Phillips.
I thought they couldn’t move him to SS this year, for some reason?

1. Jimenez 2b
2. Castro ss
3. Dunn lf
4. Cruz rf
5. LaRue c
6. Pena cf
7. Hummel 1b
8. Larson 3b
9. Acevedo p
Hasn’t every lineup since “the trade” been the worst ever?
There’s the Edwin we knew and loved. Homerun gives the good guys a lead, 3-2.
All the kids are hittin’ homers. Solo by Hopper, then 2-run by Edwin, now a pinch-hit solo by Brendan Harris. 4-2 Reds in the fifth.
Rain delay = bananaphone. Please let Adam Dunn call in…
Hope Harris gets to play more soon. His raw stats are decent and could perhaps pan out to be a solid 2B. Just need to see the glove at work.
Game over. Nice little five-inning 4-2 win. Only complaint is that Michalak pitched 87% of the game, allowed only 1 earned run, and yet was not credited with the win.
How they award wins needs addressed even though it will never be change. How’s that for a oxymoron?
He did get the win.
Cool – they changed it. The first boxscore gave the win to Coffey. I thought that the official rules allowed for different criteria in the case of a shortened game, and looks like they do after all.
I’m with the Wallaman, why the heck didn’t Harris start at 2B tonight instead of Castro? It’s always something.
Later,
Tom
