With the Reds recently re-signing with Louisville, it sounds like a long shot to me. I’m not sure there are more Reds fans in Columbus than Louisville, either and travel time from Cincinnati is pretty much the same.

I haven’t heard anything about this. I know the Yanks have severed their relationship with the Clippers, and as a Columbus resident and a Reds fan I am all for it.
There wasn’t anything wrong with them being in Indy as far as I’m concerned.
Now it’s a Cubs haven in central IN. Ugh!
Later,
Tom
I didn’t realize the Yanks had servered ties to the Clippers. Aren’t the Clippers getting a new stadium?
I hope they tear down that Cooper Stadium. I had a miserable game there as a high-schooler. Lost two balls up in the reflection off the empty upper deck seats – ended up on the bench for two weeks.
They are opening a new one in 2008 next to where the blue jackets play. I’m glad they are getting a new stadium, but there are fears among many of us that the prices will go so high that we will be priced out of games. My church usually takes 20-25 youth every year to a couple of games, and we hope to be able to continue the tradition.
Screw central IN, that state can secede, for all I care.
I guess Chad has been disheartened to the point that he can’t even bring himself to create a gamethread. I feel your pain too Chad. Anyway, we’re through 1… no score.
Sorry about the game thread…I forgot it was a day game!
I thought Columbus was building a new stadium downtown near Nationwide Arena.
that’s the one I was talking about. It will be in what’s called the ‘brewry district’. It’s beautiful. What many of us fear though is that, like the NHL games and other activities which have moved into the area, it will become “trendy” to go to a Clippers game and due to the area they are moving to (currently, Cooper Stadium is on the near West side right off Mound Street and is the most valuable thing around, and it’s a little old and outdated)which is fairly upscale, some people will be priced out of a ballgame. I don’t want to sound like a pessimist, change happens and we have to roll with it sometimes, but it is a concern among some organizations and individuals in Columbus. Haven’t heard anything recently, though.
I’ve never heard of a minor league baseball game pricing out of anyone’s abilities. Some teams/leagues are more affordable than others…the FSL is about $6 (max) a ticket, but the Dragons top tickets are around $11. Louisville, I think is about similar to the Dragons.
As an update: The Nationals reached an agreement with Columbus to become their AAA team for 2 years, but it allows the Clippers to pursue an agreement with the Reds or Indians when those teams AAA contracts end.
