Game Thread: Reds at Giants — 2006.08.26

I’m sitting in a Broadway Theatre, and I’m posting a game thread from my Blackberry. I’m obsessed with this team. Something’s wrong with me.

Discuss today’s game, featuring Bronson Arroyo, here.

“The Producers,” if anyone is interested. Act II is starting. Gotta run.

STL won today, 2-1. Looks like whatever mojo the Cubs had over the Cards ran out.

No score yet – Reds have left 5 runners on base through 3.

Oh yeah – with his caught stealing, Freel made the first out of the third inning at 3rd base, a baseball sin.

I’m as big a fan of Edwin as anybody, but I find it humorous that everybody on the team gets blasted at one point or another on here when they make a mistake except Edwin. He made his 19th error last night and 20th today and nary a peep on the board. I don’t have a problem with it, I just find it funny.

Now that’s cool! Marty was just saying during the game that Boston today is having some of it’s minor league teams play in Fenway and they have 35K fans there to see them. If the Reds did that, I’d go check it out.

    Later,
    Tom

  • A “comedy of errors”…Although they gave Randy Winn a double, Marty says it was an error all the way.
Griffey’s throw ends up in the Giants dugout..and the Giants get a second run.

There’s that bad mojo that the Reds usually get when they travel out west

  • OK, why isn’t Ross the real everyday catcher? 18 home runs as a little more than part timer….

Yeah, I know people talk about “career year” and all, but what is wrong with that since this is the year we have a real shot at the post season?

Look at it this way – Ross will be fresh for the postseason.

  • Yeah, LaRue and Clayton will probably start since they are ‘vets who really know how to play the game’……….

  • 11 game hit streak for Junior…
Of course, the hit comes with 2 outs…

Edwin made an error last night? I don’t remember that. His error today was pretty inconsequential – only resulted in the Giants stranding an extra runner.

That said, the Reds are looking brutal on defense today. Somebody hit near Freel so things look better!

Ouch. Hillendbrand with another homer. Bullpen switch comes too late.

Everybody looks flat. Someone tell them they’re down in the late innings – this is where they score runs.

Bill Bray makes an appearance with a scoreless inning. Maybe he was abducted by aliens for the past week.

Got into the game late.. Sorry I let the guys down… but then again to not produce more than 2 runs in 2 games agaknst the Giants.. THEY HAVE LET ME AND EVERY REDS FAN DOWN!

Blech. That sour taste is two consecutive 4-1 losses.

Need to get into that Giants’ bullpen again tomorrow.

Just got back from the game. Being stationed in Monterey is good for one thing I guess and just to reiterate what’s been said earlier. They looked flat out there today, no energy level. Even late in the game when you expect something to happen in this game it wasn’t there until the final at bat with Freel. Hope this is one of the short offensive dryspells and not anything elongated.
