Anyone else get nervous about these West Coast road trips? I’ve seen the Reds get battered out there too many times, unfortunately.
Not this year. I believe.
Even with Eric Milton on the mound.
Discuss the game here, and until the game starts, feel free to discuss the Mets-Cards, where St. Looie is currently losing. Nice!

After tonight we’ve got our three best starting pitchers pitching (right now) in three of the most important games of the year. Not to look ahead, but if we make the playoffs these are the three we’re going to be running out there in October. Not only will this road trip help get us into the playoffs, it will demonstrate if we even have a fighting chance once we get there.
I know a lot of critics out there criticize our starting pitching and pretty much think we’ve been pretenders all along, but I can tell you right now Harang, Arroyo, and now Lohse can get anyone out in the National League.
Whether we like it or not, the playoffs start now.
All I’m asking is to go .500 on this road trip and I’ll be happy.
mets up 5-2 after 7.
I love these West Coast night games, where the anticipation builds up all day. Besides, whenever the Reds lose, I’m miserable and generally pissed off for the rest of the day, which is why I don’t necessarily like day games.
Anyway, if you are bored waiting for the first pitch, enjoy my latest concoction.
the west coast games are the only ones i can pick up on the radio from the first pitch from where i am.
6-2 Mets
Our old buddy Dave Williams is in line for the W at New York.
Reds are 1/2 game out as of now ….6-2, Mets win
1/2 game back; 1/2 game back; 1/2 game back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
St. Louis sure as hell isn’t getting any better. Their pitching has been abysmal. Our boys just need to keep playing hard and PNC park will be where they reclaim 1st outright.
alright, get ‘em freel
Brad “I been sippin’” Hennessey is not half bad, good looking stuff.
some key matchups: career vs Milton, Alou 3-17; Durham 3-25; Bonds 0-0; Feliz 4-8.
Oh shit… Here we go…
Not what we are looking for Milton!!!!
Ok… get Bonds and put it behind you.
Milton needs to settle down now. 1 run wont win this game (hopefully).
i dont know if anybody looks at theonion.com very often but there’s an article in the sports section about griffey that just crosses the line
He really needs to settle in on the mound.
That article from the theonion.com is undeniably a low blow.
Why doesn’t Dunn slap down a bunt when they do that over dramatic shift on him…
and Jr. too!
Theonion.com is usually a decent read…but that article is simply wrong.
On a better note, both the Cardinals and Phillies lost today…if Milton can give the Reds some strong innings (not looking so good so far…) the Reds could end today in 1st!
This is not a good way to start the West Coast trip, Milton.
OK who’s available to go long from the pen tonight? 3-0
You’re right Justin that is the stupidest article I’ve ever read, it’s not even remotely funny, just crosses the line, don’t they understand people lose loved ones to cancer everyday!
Wow, thanks for screwing up the road trip Milton. 3-0 already.
The Milton of old is back.
Milton doesn’t need to settlre down… he needs to sit down… and kiss Freels ass on his way down.
Another amazing catch by Freel
He caught it! No, wait he didn’t. Yes he did. No, yes, no, yes . . . Sometimes listening to the radio can make me go mad!!
2 more flyouts to the warning track to end the inning. I am on the verge of turning this game off already.
Both Jeff and Shris in the booth said that Freel’s catch was a trap… on my Tivo it never hit the grass, sat on top of his forearm.. thats an out in my book.
CeeKeR, I think he did catch it. It was even hard to tell on the TV. Wait until you see the replay. I think I changed my mind a couple times watching it in slow motion.
‘Sad but true tale?’ It’s only 3-0!
Regardless, that was an amazing play by Freel. Why do I have the feeling he cares more than everyone else on this team?
Shris=Chris
Alright, good to hear it actually WAS tough to tell… Sometimes I’m not sure what the Marty and Steve are watching
Stick with it. Milton’s had a couple starts lately where he’s settled down after a bad beginning. Maybe, maybe not…but maybe.
Gapper, you’re brilliant.
Thats not a feeling, that is a fact backed by games of proof. Ryan freel has more heart than anyone on our side!
Lets not forget …. Milton can make up some runs with a couple swings of the bat. I’d like to see how he compares with other pitchers (has to have one of the highest avg)
There really aren’t many players on the team who outwardly display emotion. That was one thing I really enjoyed about Everyday (except when he is injured) Eddie.
Does anyone besides Giants fans like Barry Bonds???
Milton’s BA .224
I disagree with that call, Milton should have been swinging, were down by 3 not 1
and Milton is a better hitter than LaRue
Here ya go…
(that’s the pitcher hitting stats)
The opposing pitcher (Hennessey) is actually batting .316
why won’t they start the games a little sooner on the west coast. YAWN – Come on guys wake me up.. Lets get a 123 and then put some on the board!
To answer the question, I like Barry Bonds.
Yea! Milton didn’t give up an extra-base hit to start the inning.
Bonds v Milton.. worked out that time
Check out the ages of the Giants lineup:
Winn-32
Vizquel-39
Hillenbrand-31
Bonds-42
Durham-34
Feliz-31
Finley-41
Alfonzo-27
That is only 1 guy under 30 and 3 guys 39 or over.
Wow, that’s an old lineup. Unreal.
Also: Alou isn’t playing tonight but he is 40
We’re not scorching the ball tonight are we.
The Reds almost never hit pitchers who they haven’t seen before.
EE grounds out but gets to stay at 1st for catcher’s interference. You don’t see that too often.
Haha, did anybody else notice the Aflac Duck graphic? The computer running it was getting bogged down, and the duck was running choppy and in slow motion.
How do you score catchers interference?
Find a way Rich..get’er done
As a reds fan, I disliked Bonds, before the steroids, when he was much smaller, but still a huge threat, playing for the Pirates. Is it true that he wears a size 9 hat!!!?? Thats a freakin huge head, those cow growth hormones really can mess you up man!
I think it is considered an error on the catcher…but I could be wrong.
Mike I don’t know, my first guess is error
Aurilia pops out and strands 2. We can’t afford to do that too much w/ a 3-run deficit.
What is the E-Mail to the booth?
I don’t think it’s an error. In my scorebook, it’s scored “CI”, and it counts as an AB for EE. It’s like reaching on an error, but I don’t think a fielder is actually charged with the E.
I beginning to wonder if our guys in Red brought their bats to California.. I certainly hope so because they are going to need them. See if they can get it together!
martyandsteve at redsonradio.com . I’m pretty sure.
Wait a second who does Richy play for now???
RA boots the grounder.
Catcher’s interference is scored as an error on the catcher. I’m positive that any runs that result from that play are unearned.
RA was too young to play SS for the Giants. They had to let him go.
Another nice running catch by Freel. He can sure cover a lot of ground out there.
That would have been top row bleachers at GABP
Hearing the female PA announcer in SF is just plain upsetting
No doubt that they have a solid SS now though… with Omar Vizqual
The White Sox LF threw out Casey at 1st today?!
The piano on Casey’s back must be getting bigger and bigger
Got the 3rd out, now it’s our turn!
Do the Giants have the oldest lineup in MLB????
What did Steve just say? White Sox left fielder threw out Sean Casey at 1st today? Hopefully he remembers to finish talking about that after the commercial break, instead of movie trivia or some other non-sequiter.
Hey Jim Day is calling the game with Chris Welsh.. earlier I thought it was Jeff Piecoro(don’t rem spell)
That doesn’t surprise me about Casey, my 4 year old could out run Casey to 1st.
What is Lohse contract status for next year?
A video clip of that Casey play can be seen on mlb.com . Turns out he thought it was caught and turned away from the play.
He’s got a four game hitting streak going, against a guy who withers and gives em up… why isn’t he swinging.. I understand the bunt with no outs or 1 run deficit
Milton shows bunt, pulls it back, and takes strike 3.
Then he watches the 3rd strike!
Please Freel!
It happened last year when Casey was with the Reds! And he didn’t turn away, just hobbled to first.
Still within reach… we need three outs right now!
I’m guessing we are going to have to wait until the 9th to pose any kind of offensive threat tonight.
I was rather disenchanted with Casey ever since he wilted like a big fat daisy for the playoff run in ‘99. Besides, the only way Casey could score from second was on a home run. I loved earlier in the year when the Reds were burning up the basepaths. Take note: that was when we were most successful.
Well how’s the Giants bullpen.. who’s their weapons???
Absolutely.. speed is a very important aspect of the game!
Freel is slugging .284 in August, not including tonight’s 0-3. I know its hard to beat a slump from the bench, but…..
Paging Chris Denorfia. Get well soon.
Nice DP. Needed that.
He’s hanging in there, but Milton doesn’t have good stuff.
All I know about the Giants bullpen is that Benitez is closing for them.
DP’s are a milton’s best friend.
Base hit by Hatte. Let’s do something this inning!
Griffey walks. Tying run to the plate.
Oh, Reds. So frustrating. The Cards just got the broom and are practically inviting us to overtake them! Yet the offense lies dormant.
By the way, three cheers for the Reds fan sitting behind the 1B dugout.
EdE. Lets check in here with an RBI!
Crazy ground ball up the middle by EE scores a run. That might have been an error on Durham.
1 run in, Jr to 3rd
Oh yeah! RBI.
That’s what I’m talking about. Good job Edwin – looks like at least a couple runs here.
EE broke his bat, then the ball almost hit the 2nd base bag and Durham just fell over for some reason. They call it a hit and RBI for EE. Let’s go Dunn!
Starting to hear the boos over the radio… I’m thinking the San Fran fans are getting a little fed up with their team (even though they are still winning 3-1)
They have Armando Benitez, Steve Kline, and Mike Stanton in their bullpen, and oddly enough their youngest reliever is 26 years old and he’s the one warming up…Last outing he gave up 3 hits and 3 runs vs SD. I dare em against this hot hitting Reds team!
Wild pitch scores EE! 3-2 giants
Junior scores!
Wild pitch, another run in! Who needs the bats when you get crazy hops and wild pitches?! Reds all of the sudden have the big ‘ol mo! …and the tying run on 2nd !
I looked up something earlier… Hennesey doesnt last very long before he falls apart.
we are down by 1 with one on and the Dunnere ready to Jack One
Woohoo! Run #2 on a PB! Plus Edwin in scoring position, and Dunn being patient.
Dunn walks. Hennessey is done. He just fell apart this inning and couldn’t even get an out. Gapper was right- Griffey scored on the WP not EE.
Alright, who’s in their bullpen? (and do they need a walker to help themselves get to the mound?)
Patience is a virtue.
Especially when Hennessey can’t find the plate. Hit the showers, meat.
Alright Richie. Lets get something going!
…after the pitching change. 2 on, no outs, 2 runs in.
Wow, they’re just giving this one away. I’ve not seen anything like this in a while. And you’re right, TN, Hennesy really falls apart quickly.
The Giants are so old. You have to figure two-thirds of their lineup will be ineffective within the next year or 2.
Correia is a big RH that shows inconsisitency and mediocre long reliver capabilities. He’s about to feel the wrath… and get crushed!
RA pops up in the infield on the first pitch from the new pitcher. Not too smart, Richie.
I’m sure we can all guess which NL team has the highest bullpen ERA (4.70), but guess which team has the second highest at 4.63? Hint: it bodes well for this particular series.
In the next year or two.. try after 9oclock… they all should be getting ready for bed!
Lets go, Phillips. I’m a hit addict, and I need my fix.
Ugh. Pop up. Marty’s saying he should have bunted. I don’t know about that, but maybe work the count a little first…
this is why i believe in spliting your Lefties and Righties in your ordere.. His rh stats pretty good, his lh pretty bad.. walks the lefties quite alot… but he’s hitable regardless! Come on BrandNew Phillips!
Good AB by BP draws a BB. (say that 3 times fast)
Phillips should’ve been K’d on that ‘checked’ swing. I’ll take it- especially after yesterday’s Coffey incident.
Fantastic job by Phillips to work that walk. Remember how long it took for him to draw his first BB this year?
Bases loaded, 1 out for Ross.
David ross is at least capable of a Sac Fly here. Let’s get even! Then go for the win!
Bases loaded…
Reds make it interesting no matter what… Ross whiffs on strike 2 high heat
Nice note from Castellini.
Milton is batting with 2 outs and the bases loaded. That shows you how much confidence Narron has in the bullpen.
Milton batting for himself?!
key-rapppp. Up to milton.
WHY IS MILTON BATTING???!!!
Don’t like this decision, although at least Milton has been cruising for a few.
uuuuggggghhhhhh
Oh if only we had a bullpen that Narron trusted…
See what Narron did with the order with all three lafties together is open invitation to a specialist. But next inning the lefties are up.
I cant believe the Reds only got 2 runs out of that. Bases loaded, w/ 1 out and no runs. Ross and Milton K’d. Why the hell does Milton hit there? A base hit in that situation is potentially the game-winner.
Milton has only thrown 59 pitches through 5. With the bullpen being what it is, I think it was a good decision to leave him in there.
Ross should have been able to get that tying run home. He’s been slumping for a long while now.
I suppose the choice was this: watch Milton strike out, or watch Hollandsworth strike out.
That just shows you that Narron has no confidence in the bullpen being able to pitch 4 decent innings.
Another basehit to leadoff the inning and Bonds is up.
good point, gapper. Tho I haven’t seen Hollandsworth pitch.
I’m glad we acquired that amazing left-handed hitter in Hollandsworth for clutch situations like that. I suppose Milton had a better chance of putting it in play than he did.
I would’ve hoped to see Valentin in that situation (even LaRue) before Hollandsworth.
A double off the diving glove of EE. Runners on 2nd and 3rd w/ 2 out. We need this out.
Well don’t be shocked to see Rheal Cormier if Milton can’t get this 3rd out. He’s had success against San Fran, and Bray or Weathers will be saved for the late innings
Cormier = we give up.
…Not sure what good he is other than mopping up hopeless games…
Coffey is warming in the pen. He would be next.
Milton is playing 3 pops up with this guy..
WHIFFFFF!!!
Nice K by Milton. Let’s tie this game in the 7th.
Awesome Strikeout!
Milton keeps allowing leadoff hits, and more often than not has threaded the needle tonight. Good job again.
Milton for President. (or at least the third out!)
Wow. Big K.
Now lets tie it up and take the lead.
Let’s get something started!
I hoped Milton might be able to go one more, but that inning made me nervous. Tough call. Due up next inning is their rookie catcher, a pinch-hitter, then leadoff hitter Randy Winn.
But first things first – score some runs.
Top o’ the order to ya!
I’m at least glad we turned over the lineup last inning.
Bad call for strike 3 on Freel.
Here come the lefties!
Again: does anybody know the status of Denorfia?
a HR by Jr. would be nice.
YES!!
When they showed Hatty a few seconds ago, in the background was the Reds fan behind 1B dugout with his hands cupped around his mouth, hollerin’ at the ump. Beautiful!
Great – arguing ball/strike calls again.
Single by Jr. Let’s go EE!
HR for EE please?
Who wants to see instant replay back in MLB, since the scandalous strikezone lastnight and those obviously bad calls there to Freel and Hattie! SWomething similar to the NFL where calls will only be reviewed if challenged by a manager. Give each manager 2 challenges
Run JR RUN!!!
EE! EE! EE!
Jr. Scores from 1st on a double by EE! EE to 3rd on the throw home
Told you, he is hittable, surprised me against those lefties.
Way to go EE
I didn’t think Jr. could run 270 feet at once any more.
Edwin’s absolutely amazing. O Captain My Captain!
We really need to start The EncarNation as a cheering section for EE at GABP.
Who wants to see instant replay back in MLB, since the scandalous strikezone lastnight and those obviously bad calls there to Freel and Hattie! Something similar to the NFL where calls will only be reviewed if challenged by a manager. Give each manager 2 challenges
Heh, Gameday shows EdE’s double landed in the stands.
2 out rbi! EdE is the man! And Jr chugging home from 1b? Maybe this team does want to win.
Re: Denorfia – Last I saw, he had a sore knee. However, he played RF tonight for Louisville, went 2-4, 2 singles.
I’d be part of the EncarNation, Thats catchy!
Jr. turns back the clock to the 1995 ALDS with that slide into home, and I love it.
He must feel like he just ran to Correia.
No one wants to see replay in MLB. It would be crazy if you could challenge balls/strikes. I assume you would like a computer to call balls/strikes instead of an umpire?
Does anyone else think that Correia looks just like Hennessy?
EE has officially joined Dunn and Freel in my “favorite Reds” category.
Tied ball Game
c’mon Dunner
RedlegNacion
Dunn K’s to strand EE at 3rd but the game is now tied.
I held my breath for that flyout to the wall on the first pitch of the inning by ALfonzo.
Wow. Did anyone just hear that lame Budweiser commercial? Cheese-ola.
Milton stays in the game. This was a tough call, but I like it. At least to start the inning.
Okay Milton is starting to scare me a little. Nervous twitches beginning
2 pitches, 2 outs for Milton (although the first would’ve been gone at GABP)
Leadoff man is erased, but I would prefer those flies to land a little farther form the wall.
Milton playing with fire? Some deep flyballs here.
Yikes. They’re doing everything they can to keep Milton from exerting himself.
Jim Day is amazed that they forgot the bullpens at AT&T
base hit by Winn. I just saw a glimpse of Cormier in the pen and vomited in my mouth.
3-2, 2 outs…c’mon Milton
another base hit. runners on 1st and 3rd. Here comes Franklin.
It’s a righty. (YES!!)
Keep Frenchy Cormier out of this ball game!
Nervous Twitch… Like the call to Franklin, good matchup
Anyone but Cormier. Heck, I’d PITCH Larue before Cormier…
Nice.
Yes! Nice ground ball by Franklin. Let’s score some more in the 8th!
Outa trouble. Git’r'done!
I would volunteer myself to be a lefthander in the Reds bullpen if the alternative is Cormier (I’m right-handed).
Whew. Everytime Franklin gets an out, I feel fortunate.
Runs! Need runs! Bottom half of the order due up.
and we’re through the 7th… nice job by Narron. Now lets put some on the board!
Ha. Albert Belle has been stalking his ex-girlfriend. Apparently, he attached a GPS tracking device to her car.
a guy named Vinny Chulk is pitching for the Giants. We need to get a run off this guy.
6.2 innings, 10 hits allowed (2 homers) for Milton. But zero walks is the difference maker – quality start after a poor beginning.
John R. following in the footsteps of Dennys Reyes?
Aurilia has looked ugly at the plate tonight. 3 lazy pop outs i believe.
Not bad footsteps in which to follow. I noticed Reyes had a big payday today.
Do you think Narron will pitch Cormier against Bonds to start the next inning? (gulp)
Hollandsworthless is on-deck.
Yes, and that’s a no-doubter if Ross gets on and we see a pinch hitter.
ROOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Franklin in line for the W now.
Ross makes amends for his K with the bases loaded.
Ross is my hero.
Ran to my computer after that one… That is exactly what I asked him to do!
I love that David Ross.. He keeps this up, and he’e getting a raise!
Thank goodness. Ross shows off the guns – 4-3 Reds. Needed that one if Cormier is going to come in to face Bonds.
Hollandsworthless grounds out. Shocker.
But, Ross homers to put the Reds up 4-3.
Are you kidding me? Marty Called It!
Only bummer is Marty also said that Cormier was definitely coming into the ball game. Some one grab a crowbar!
Thanks to Ross, Hollandsworth can dribble one down the line, and I don’t even care!
Sorry, ab, I missed the crowbar reference. Explanation?
Talk about a vulture win for Franklin – if it holds up.
If Rheal walks Bonds here, I won’t be too upset.
Gapper, think ice skating and Tonya Harding.
Anything to keep Rheal outta the game.
That’s the spirit!
That 2nd strike on Bonds was very questionable. The balls/strikes have been a bit erratic tonight.
I’ll have Albert Belle place a GPS tracking device on his car once he gets out of jail.
Cormier walks Bonds. In comes Coffey.
Walk to Bonds.
Marty’s pretty much annoyed with Cormier… “major disappointment since coming from the Phillies”
a DP would be wonderful.
You know Cormier is better than this, he walked him, that should’ve been an easy out.
Coffee anyone?
And Marty’s rightfully giving it to him. He hasn’t done a thing for us yet.
base-hit by Durham. The bullpen is in full effect.
I think he might still be playing for the Phillies secretly.
Ground ball single… 1st and 2nd already w/ no outs. . .
Please! Get 3 outs without giving up the lead!
DP’S ARE A PITCHER’S BEST FRIEND!
6-4-3 DP. Let’s get 1 more out!
Coffey got the DP ball
Double play 6-4-3!
De La Rosa on third . . .
In comes Shoenweiss for Coffey
We’re not out of the woods yet. Here comes Schoeneweis.
SING ALONG!!
I hope Shoenweiss can continue his unexplainable streak of effectiveness.
Nice DP. Narron playing Sparky in this inning. Bring out the Hook.
Schoeneweiss is being called to the mound because he’s been hot. He better be, with a runner on 3rd. Get this out!
Huge at bat here…
Schoeneweiss ahead with 1-2 count…
Not to mention that he is really effective vs Lefties
I was a big fan of his work in the 9th in the 1st Houston game. If he can get this out, I wouldn’t mind him staying in.
Ball 4…
Walk to Finley. Schenweis stays in the game to face Alfonzo.
Sh____! Walked em
How come Bill Brayski never pitches anymore?
Not the worst thing…although the out would have been nice… Chance for an out at 2nd now…
0-2. come on Schoenweis!
YES! Nice K by Schoenweis
OUCH!!!! THAT’S HIGH HEAT!!!!
Struck him out!
To the 9th, Reds lead 4-3.
Excellent job working the rookie.
Going to the ninth. . .
Who comes on to close in the 9th? I would like Bray but I have a feeling there is some Stormy Weathers on the horizon.
We need some insurance runs.
Whew! Is everyone beginning to like this guy, He’s showin me that he’s better than his stats.. Previous to that his opp ba with RISP 2 outs was .478 I was scared…
Wouldn’t we all like some insurance with Everyday Eddie on the DL
Stormy’s comin’ in according to Marty…
We could def. use some insurance runs here – get it goin’ Farney!
Pinch-hitter and 2 switch-hitters coming up. I wouldn’t mind leaving Schoeneweis out there.
O Denorfia, where art thou?
Freel punched out looking again. Narron actually makes a nice move by getting between him and the umpire so our best OF doesnt get tossed before the bottom of the 9th.
Freel’s about to be thrown out…. Umpires seem to have it out for the Reds lately…
That is the first compliment I have given Narron all year by the way.
Great move by Hatcher to intervene in the blink of an eye to keep Freel’s defense in the game.
Lately, I wouldn’t mind seeing his bat ejected though. Perhaps he would do better if he swung more and griped less?
Wow- Mike Stanton sighting.
Mike Stanton sighting confirmed. I see him too.
The ageless Mike Stanton. Though, as long as he’s been around…Cormier is a couple months older.
If nothing else, Hatte is almost always a tough out..
You spoke too soon. Hatte K’s
Made him work though… Griffey might just be primed to homer here… 2-0 count.
Jim Day confirms the Weathers alert.
Jr. walks. It’s up to the savior of the EncarNation if we want any insurance.
Base hit by EE. Runners on 1st and 3rd.
Has anyone checked the Doppler radar for San Francisco?
Damn if Edwin’s not a star. 3-4 with 2 RBI tonight.
I’m just interested to see what kind of Weathers we are getting tonight.
just put it in play somewhere, Dunn
He’s hanging in there…
I don’t ever remember seeing Dunn foul off this many pitches in an atbat before.
great AB by Dunn and he draws a walk. Up comes Castro w/ the bases loaded. Where is Valentin?
Castro up with the bases loaded. Ugh.
All up to Castro…
Bases loaded, 2 outs
Hey, Castro’s been good at the plate since he got back to Cincinnati.
Castro: .125 w/ bases loaded.
And a base hit scores 2!
Castro delivers!
Big knock for Juan!!!
Castro singles…
Griffey scores, EE scores! 6-3 Reds!
I don’t post here much, but guys like Castro and Clayton don’t get any respect, even though they often come through with big hits.
Manos de Oro slapped that one into center field.
I’ll tell you what…Castro hits for crap, but he does seem to come up with a lot of big hits.
Reminds me of Pokey in ‘99.
That puts Castro at .500 on the season with the bases loaded. There’s the insurance we needed…
That’s fantastic. Just what they needed – room to work with. Now I don’t mind Weathers in the ninth, if that should be the decision.
On to the bottom of the 9th. We need to pray to the patron saint of bullpens.
Alright Weathers.. do your thang and get us 3 outs…. Close this game!
Close ‘em down!
The ticket’s in hand. “Now boarding, the 1:20 first-place express”
Royce for defense? Ugh.
Clayton in for Castro? Did he hurt himself running out the single???
Hopefully that flight won’t be delayed due to severe Weathers
Strike 3 called…
And ANOTHER upset batter with the strike called.
Has anyone realized that we are 2 outs from 1st place in the NL Central
maybe Narron is playing by little league rules and he has to get all his players in the game. there is no other reason to put clayton in over castro for defense.
Castro moves to 3b replacing Edwin. Weird.
i havent seen a game all year with this many bad ball/strike calls
Strike 3 called.
Winn pulled a Felipe – stared at 3 straight strikes and sat back down.
Think the Giants just gave up?
Cardinals fans will be saying that they are still the first-place team, by percentage points. Watch it happen – it did last time.
Thats 2 K’s
They said it was windy, but the Weather looks pretty good at AT&T tonight!
Yes! First place baby!
Reds win!
Who is this amazingly efficient reliever, and what did he do with Weathers?
First place for the Reds! Great start to the West trip…
a very nice win tonight after falling down 3-0 early. A loss tonight would have been demoralizing w/ a long road trip ahead. Harangutan on the mound tomorrow.
I won’t ask questions as long as he keeps it up.
Harangutan is best on the road.
We are now tied for 1st place in the Central..
Let’s keep this going, momentum is a good thing…
#1 and #2 guys coming up and Bray is rested….
Oh yeah the Reds brought their bats to California!
That was a strange game. Hennessey looked dominant, and I thought we were in for a very short night (5 innings in 70 min).
Then, single, walk, E-4 (called a hit), passed ball…and we’re within 1 run.
Then the next inning, with 2 out: single, double = tie game.
Ross DRILLS that hanging slider, and it’s ballgame.
Narron was practially LaRussian with all the pitching changes, but he struck gold every time — and his trust in Milton paid off, too. He got out of a couple jams I didn’t think he could handle.
The Reds looked like the superior team tonight. Plate discipline, defense, and efficient pitching made the difference.
It’s good to get a win when your top guys don’t take the hill. Now we just need Harang and Arroyo to take care of business.
I didn’t get to post last night, but I just want to say first place feels OH SO GOOD!
So nice to wake up to a first place team!
first, I’m amazed at this many posts on this thread considering the late start (east coast wise) for the game
secondly, I’m really glad the game turned out better than what it was when I passed out (3-0 early in the game).
got to love that fight in our Reds, eh
wow..nobody stayed around in here for the final out last night? very surprising
never mind that was just my internet acting screwy
Chris Welsch and Jim Day were insufferable last night. It would be nice if they would just simulcast Marty and Steve over the FOX broadcasts. They may have been thrown off by the time change or something but it was horrible, i had to mute the game.
Anyway, more importantly… 1st Place!!!
“Can they pull ahead for good?… stay tuned, 10pm EST on FSN Ohio“
