On to Philadelphia.
We’ll get our second look at Kyle Lohse tonight; if he’s as effective as he was last time, he’ll be adequate — and I’ll take it.
Jon Lieber will be pitching for the Phils and, at this point in his career, he isn’t what he used to be.
Whoever is playing this evening, tonight marks the beginning of a very important road trip for the Reds. The Reds simply must play well in Philadelphia and St. Louis if they want to remain contenders for the long haul.
Discuss it here!

no surprises..this is really what i expected to see for tonight..wasn’t sure between aurilia and edwin but narron goes with the hot hand here i think
Can we just once try an infield of Encarnacion-Aurilla-Phillips-Hatteberg?
i agree jim…aurilia even said in an interview the other they “i think people forgot i played shortstop for __ years”…fill in the blank i don’t remember how long he’s been in the majors
EXACTLY JIM, just ONE freakin’ time!!
Dayn Perry of FoxSports.com made this amusing comment about Clayton’s performance as a Red, “Elsewhere, Royce Clayton continues to suffer from what experts call “too much playing time.””
We’re not the only ones who see it.
Scott Hatteberg is now 4th in the league in batting average, at .332 . Chipper Jones is at .333, Miguel Cabrera is .336, and Freddy Sanchez is .342 .
And Griffey follows up with a walk. Good to see.
Does Scottie have enough AB’s to qualify for the batting title?
Cuurently Hatteberg has enough – all you need is 3.1 plate appearances for each game your team plays, 502 for the year. Reds have played 115 games, so 357 will qualify. Right now, Hatteberg has 385 plate appearances.
Wouldn’t it be remarkable seeing how he wasn’t even a thought for the All-Star team?
They seem pretty flat here in the early going. Maybe it’s just the comedown of going on the road after three straight electric sellouts at home.
Sometimes I love that man.
freel….wow
Nothing like a little Ryan Freel defensive magic to spark the team.
Big fly Edwin! 2-1 lead. Except, what’s the controversy?
No controversy. Hit off the top of the wall and into the seats. I wonder what the Phillies were trying to sell there.
Just joining you.. maybe they we’re trying to sell a souvenier ball!
yea if a ball that bounces off jose canseco’s head and over the wall is a homer then a ball off the top of the wall and over certainly is
I think every Reds fan would love to see Richy back at short, BP at 2nd, Scott at 1st, and Edwin back as a full time 3rd baseman. The slifght sacrifice in the defensive category would be worth the .015 or so it would raise the starting lineups avg and most certainly increase the HR potential. But as I have said before Royce is Narron’s boy!
Well I saw the higlights or should I say lowlights of yesterdays day game action… The most exciting thing I saw was Bronson’s new hairdo! We really need a win tonight…
why not BP at SS, Aurilia at 2nd, EE at 3rd, and Hatte at 1st?
What we really need is 2 of 3 this weekend
EE goes long again..
Man Edwin sent that one o long way! See HR potential!
bomb
I think the Reds want to keep Phillip’s head in the game at 2nd… for this year, look for him at ss next year.
I t would work that way, but really BP is a 2nd baseman, and our best fit for the position. Rich was and really should still be a SS, but he’s shown such talent at the corners this year he got bounced!
My satellite just went out, resorting to Gameday… keep me posted guys,
By the way Lohse is looking solid so far… 6/0 K/bb ratio
Make that 7K/0bb
More leaderboard news – Ryan Freel is now third in the league in outfield assists, with 10. Soriano has 19 and Brad Hawpe of COL has 13. Freel has about 2/3 of the outfield playing time that those regulars have.
George and Chris said earlier that EE was the best hitter this month so far, and he continues his explosive streak. I think allowing Rich to play 3rd for so long creates an inner motivation for Edwin to step up, after all he needs to to stay in the game. So far he has steped up and risen beyond!
With on Royce delivers another automatic… OUT
So far only four Reds have hits, everybody has got to get into the action!
I won’t pretend to know why Edwin has been so hot since being freed, but I don’t much care as long as he continues to play well and Narron continues to calligraph his name into the lineup.
Make that 3 Reds, Edwin has two, Hatteberg 1, and Royce has one(wow!)
K/BB ratio just dropped by an infinite percentage.
Lohse issues his first walk.
Very nice. Lohse K’s Burrell with his 93rd pitch of the night.
I can’t find the backward K on my keyboard.
Looks like it ’s time to go to the bullpen after that ringing double. Still 3-1 but a tough threat to overcome here.
Weathers has apparently become the most reliable bullpen arm now. I like the guy’s obvious passion, but he still makes me nervous.
Whew. Liner smashed right at Edwin.
nice play by ee, man my picture keeps going in and out… dang storm!
Good job Weathers.
Can’t find any fault with that job. Weathers strands both runners. Who’s next out of the ‘pen?
Rick White is getting loose for the Phillies.
Nervous is an understatemnet… when weathers takes the mound I feel like black man in the middle of the Republican Convention
But he has been doing much better as of late, I know i’m going to hell for that last one.. and i’m rep. NICE STEAL BY FREEL.. close call tough!
Another break – Freel steals second thanks to the drop of the catcher’s throw.
Are the Cards still losing to the Buccos?
Three guys I like to see at the plate with RISP…. Jr, Encarnacion, and BP, they just seem to get em when we need em.
Hatteberg walks. Man, is he having a fantastic year.
Pittsburgh up on STL 6-1 in the 7th.
St Louis is getting crushed 6-1 right now, and Houston is down by 1
Awesome about the Cards.
Awesome also about Hatteberg. I just cannot believe how great he’s been this year. No one would have expected this.
Chased that one up high
Junior Ks, but Edwin coming up.
Me like Edwin.
I hope he’s freed for good now.
Love how eight different Phillies are meeting on the mound to talk about how to pitch to EdE.
JR. laid off the a better pitch 2-2, but then swings 3-2 at a worse one. Oh well.
Good thing too, w/o The Mayer, but really Scott Hatteberg has been better than Casey was, another call that Krivsky made that no one would have ever anticipated.
Mayor sry
catchers interference !
were the runners going on that ??
What a weird game for the Phillies. Catcher’s interference?
Isn’t that the second time EdE’s been on through interference this week?
Come On Dunner! Grand Slam Texas Style Babyyy!
Big Country Adam Dunn – bases loaded. Steve noting that Dunn has had an extremely reversed platoon split this year – hit lefties very well.
just a fly ball Dunn, that’s all
Bad call, that looked like it missed the corner!
aargh. |
Not to be. Two outs, Phillips will hit off someone else. Is Rick White too much to hope for?
were the runners in motion on the cathcer’s interference? It looked like Philly catcher wanted to come up throwing
But he has struggled against righties, Majority of his K’s were delivered by Right handed pitchers.
How do you score catcher’s interference? Does it count as an AB for EdE? That doesn’t seem fair.
Ah, our old friend Rick White. I hope we treat him like other team’s treated him when he was a Red.
Now we’re talking. 3-0 count from Rick White with the bases loaded.
Wasted opportunity. Crap.
That was a waste of a golden opportunity, a couple times over. But Reds still have a 2-run lead, regardless. How’s Guardado doing – is his arm still tight, or is he available?
They really should reinstate some video review, possibly a Manager’s challenge(2 use em and lose em a game) modeled after the NFL, it seems to work well for their application, and it would minimize over use and delays of game while ensuring, a fair called game, especially since some calls are game altering in a big way. Umpires need to be held accountable… and I don’t really mean strike zone calls. Like outs at first base, dp’s, etc. I’ve been tallying and at least 5 games outcomes may have been in the Red’s favors if the Manager’s had the abilty to chalenge an obvious poor call by any of the umps!
Bray in. Castro in for EE
Everyday Eddie looked good on Wednesday night or was it Tuesday?
Crap. Narron better hope the Phils don’t come back against our pathetic bullpen, because he just took our hottest hitter out of the game.
He doesn’t need to do this in close games.
loooooong strike
leadoff single. love this Reds bullpen.
I might have left Weathers in to at least start this inning. Hope Bray rebounds from his last two not-so-great outings.
Agree about leaving in Weathers. At least to start the inning; maybe he had another three outs in him.
I’d rather see the defensive switch of EdE n the 9th rather than the 8th…
Bring in Majewski!
Ah. C’mon, let’s see some Brayski.
I hate this f—— bullpen. Glad Edwin’s out of this tie game.
So wew aqquired a different guy that can do the same thing our old pen could… Throw a ball game! This isn;t the first blown opp Bray has had!
Krivsky traded Kearns and Lopez and made our bullpen worse. That’s hard to do.
Ouch. That’s unfortunate – no doubter. 3-all in the eighth.
Mabrayski sucks.
(Actually, I kinda like Bray and I think he’s going to be alright. But he’s been just awful lately.)
And Lohse gets screwed out of a win.
Bray’s been good overall this year, and remember he is a rookie. A little much to think of him as a sure thing.
Then don’t put him in a close game, on the road.
That sucks for Lohse, now he’ll empahatically relate to Arroyo not getting his 10th.. granted he has had a few bad outings, but more good ones including a 8 inning shutout attempt to be awarded a no decision, and simply because this pen can’t do their job! Easiest freakin job in baseball, One inning, 3 outs!
That was the first homer Bray has allowed as a Red.
He’s not looking good tonight.
We have to win this one especially since the Pirates thumped the Cardinals.
And now Ryan Howard is swinging for the fences! He’s swinging hard…
…and missing.
Scary moment – Ryan Howard, 2006 All-Star and Home Run Hitting Contest Winner.
Wooo! Three-pitch K of big Ryan Howard.
Man, I was having a great night until Bill Bray ruined it.
Hold ‘em JavaMan, and let’s get that lead back.
I really don’t understand taking EE out of the game??? Let’s see, 3 runs, all three EE’s rbis. Sometimes I think tehy are trying to lose.
JavaMan makes my heart sing.
I like Coffee, He is a bull, the way he charges the mound. Trademark man. And I will give Bray the benefit of doubt, He’s young and I feel he will be a solid closer one day!
Shit!
Bollocks.
Did Griffey get a piece of that ball. I thought he was going to catch it.
Can we come back…. Do they want it?
Another game blown by the bullpen! I’m sure glad Krivsky traded away the future to fix the relief pitching!
Should he have caught it? It did go off his glove?
Ross, Clayton, Castro due up in the ninth. Ouch again.
Have to do it vs Gordon.
Maybe all three Reds catchers can bat consecutively. That’d be kind of fun, right?
Nice patient at bet by Ross to get on base!
that’s the way to start it. Let’s hope the new guy can make an impression!
Nice job. Ross stays alive, stays alive, works a leadoff walk.
And it’s the new guy Hollandsworth to PH for Clayton.
Let’s see what ol Todd Hollandsworth has
so will we see aurillia?
Or does Freel move to 3rd and Hollandsworth stays in to take RF?
Yes, Bill, Junior should have caught that. He just missed it, but he was there.
Thats two K’s for Hollandsworth at 2 attempts…
So Castro becomes a defensive replacement for one inning. Oops.
Javy did ti again!
How many pinch-hit homers is Valentin gonna hit this year???????? Awesome!!!
Pinch hit homers on consecutive pitches???
OH YEAAAH !!!
LLM. Wow!
Who’s on third?
Love that Latin Love Machine!
That happened so quick, Man, Javy loves that pinch hit opportunity in the 9th, reminded me of his walk off, and the one yesterday!
No, who’s on first.
Freel hit that one as far as he can hit one…but it was dead CF and an out.
Gordon’s one weak spot this year has been the HR, but he’s been so strong regardless.
Thank goodness. This was going to be a tough loss, at least now they get another chance to close it out.
Well, this si going to be an interesting defense. Aurilia to 3B, BP to SS, Freel to 2nd, Hollandsworth to RF?
No who’s on first ! I don’t know is on third base.
beat me to it Rag Tag.
That’s 4 so far, and he really has become Narron’s go to man in a pinch hit situation late in the game. He will have 7 at this pace!
cmon eddie shut em down
Let’s see Eddie, Please tell me Everyday is getting ready!
Wait! We don’t have any more former Nationals to bring in to pitch, do we?
This is going to be interesting. on defense.
Everyday Eddie!!!
Aurilia at shortstop!!!
Okay, Narron has finally done it. Now all he has to do is start Aurilia there.
Freel at 3B, Hollandsworth in right.
Let’s hope his arm’s OK this time out.
Anyone else nervous?
Yes, RagTag. Very nervous.
But in Everyday Eddie we trust.
Bootm of their lineup vs. Eddie, this should be quick. 1-2-3!
Don’t jinx us, BigRedsFan!
0.84 ERA for Guardado.
What is the ERA for the slop we got from the Nationals?
That’s what they said last inning
Leadoff double. Dangit. Not good.
Nice thought, RagTag. Aurilia playing at SS for just the third time all year.
Leadoff double to the catcher, who is promptly pinch-run for.
What the hell did Ross just do!
F—— David Ross. He’s the worst defensive catcher the Reds have had in years.
It’s a good thing he can hit.
This game is as good as blown.
Yuck. Nice thought, but no good on that chance. At least Nunez is up – weakest hitter possible outside of a pitcher.
Tie game thanks to David Ross.
OK, there’s one K. No letdown – get another one!
Ross just gave away a game to make up for the game he stole from the Cards the other night.
Okeydoke, tie game. going to the tenth.
Okay, forget about it, RT…extra innings now, time for another dramatic win by the good guys!
Didn’t see it – what happened with Ross?
Thanks David, just put us in Extra Innings! Great job by Everyday Eddie!
to go on a tangent for a second, that was a decent throw by Hollandsworth on the tag play.
With a runner on second, Ross threw it into center field allowing the runner to go to third, which allowed him to score on the ensuing fly ball.
Ross attempted a pickoff throw to second after a pitch from Guardado, but errant throw was just out of Aurilia’s reach and runner went to third, then scored on a sac. fly.
Ross tried to pick off runner from second, overthrew it.
You’re right, Hammer…didn’t realize Hollandsworth had such a good arm.
Tough break there for Aurilia, nice play. How about maybe Adam Dunn being a hero?
Coupla great plays by the Phils there….I’m worried that they have momentum now.
Actually Ross has had a consistent throw, good throw to second all year long! Don’t know what happened… We really need the go ahead now, Narrons burned through the roster. Damn those Phillies, Robbed us of two hits!
Geez. Another good play for the Phillies defense. The Reds were only up for about 45 seconds, felt like.
I need a beer.
yeah they definitely are feeling it now. Eddie stays to pitch the 10th?
And not an 8 dollar GAB beer, either.
I neet a Natty or a Beast.
nope. Mercker in
Please don’t waste this opportunity to pick up a game on the Cards!!!
Let’s go, Mercker. Strikes! Don’t walk the leadoff guy in extras!
Four pitch walk to lead off the tenth. This bullpen makes me sick.
I need something stronger than beer.
It’s time that we win a game when the Cards lose… for a change… Maybe thats why Marker hasn’t been used in a while… walked the leadoff
Come on, strikeout or double play!
Tried to get him to chase one, didn’t work. one and two count.
I like Mercker, by the way. Hope he does the job here.
Big K there!
One K for the Ohio native!
Nice K of Utley. Howard is scary…
That’s what I used to call Kevin Mitchell: Big K.
FWIW, hammer and BigRedsFanInTn are moving up the commenters list.
Where are you in TN?
I like that. Good excuse to walk Howard.
Good play to walk Howard. But I think Ross should have caught that ball that he let get by him (wasn’t a good pitch, though).
Good choice to walk the HR leader, force out anybase, and great dp opportunity!
Switch hitting SS with .214 average in 14 at bats. I’ll take that over Howard.
1-6-3 double play!!!
Thank goodness Burrell got taken out already.
Great play by the Ohio born Merker!
escaped !
Lets use that momentum to put some on the board!
Ross got a workout that inning. he made a nice stop on a pitch in the dirt vs Utley, then I agree he should have had that high pitch vs Howard, and then had to leap to make a nice catch on an intentional ball of all things !
Ryan Madson in the game for the Phils. That makes me happy.
When does Ross come up? He needs to homer to win another game…and make up for that error earlier.
Battle of WTF Moves-Of-The-Day – EE replaced, Burrell replaced.
Ryan Madson in for the Phillies. He’s not been good this year. Need runs!
Here’s Ross!
Ross can be redeemed!
What’s with all the first-pitch swinging? That’s four consecutive pitches hit by the Reds into outs.
Well, Madson looks like Cy Young all of a sudden.
Ross not exactly atoning on that one.
Who did we get Hollandsworth from? Can’t remember.
Cleveland.
Why cannot umpires be consistent with their strike zones?
Well, he’s 0-2 with two Ks as a Red. We need to give him back.
I just discovered that on MLB website you can see video highlights for a given player. Freel and Phillips have impressive collections. One of Freel’s defensive highlights I found a full layout to snag a line drive at third base … off the bat of Cleveland’s Todd Hollandsworth.
Actually Hollandsworth 0-3 as a Red with 2 K’s, both tonight. He grounded out in his first appearance yesterday.
Ryan Franklin in.
Wow, nice play by freel.
Gotta Love that Freel!
Tough assignment to pitch against your former team. New battery, LaRue in to catch.
Ryan Freel = Awesome. Speaking of highlights. . .
Freel looks like Chris Sabo over there.
No matter where he is at! MVP man! Ryan Freel delivers 2 outs.
If the Reds can make Jeff Weaver look like Cy Young then why not Madson?
Does Narron have anyone else on the bench?
No position players on bench, either team.
Alright, we march on to the 12th inning!
Go to the 12th. Interesting game.
Both teams are out of bench players. Who’s got better-hitting pitchers?
Do we have a pinch hitter left?
OK. Let’s score some runs then shut the Phillies down! It’s time to start closing ground on the Cardinals.
Madson can’t beat the odds twice. LaRue, Freel, Hatteberg, Griffey.
Scary moment between innings! The JTM chick also does a Safe Auto commercial. She sure gets around.
Harang is a decent hitting pitcher, and arroyo has two homeurns on the year!
Maybe a Bronson HR will get him back on track in the pitching department.
Lets go Scott, get this 2 out rally started!
Hope Hattie’s new bat has a lightning bolt on it!
OK, lets get it started Hat-man
Harang as pinch hitter, isn’t that a funny thought after last year?
get the corked one
He’s tryed everything including cutting his hair!
Just got here, what did I miss? Looks like it’s been a boring game.
You haven’t missed anything. Run of the mill game.
Actually, this really has been par for the course for this team. A roller coaster ride every night.
Games like this can’t get away this time of year. The Cards are just waiting for us to catch them!
They recently replayed the sac fly play that tied the game in the 9th. Looked like a pretty strong throw from Hollandsworth, but Ross was up the line about 5-10 feet toward first. Why was Ross not at the plate? There wasn’t anyone else on base that inning, was there?
We’re one run from being 2.5 back. Golden opportunity, but the Reds have to take advantage.
Sure wish EdE were still in the game.
I just noticed the voice of the one guy in the Ricoh commercial. It’s one of Hank’s buddies from King of the Hill.
No, GregD, there was no one else on base that inning.
One away.
Franklin makes me nervous.
He couldnt hit a beach ball last year! Our pitcher is batting in the #7 spot, atleast I think, but we needs these outs first! Then the cinci kid is up to bat.
Every Reds’ relief pitcher makes me nervous.
True, DA. So true.
Unfortunately.
Steve Stewart: “The crowd here boos; we are in Philadelphia, after all.”
Yeah! It would be nice to have the guy that has hit two homers tonight still in the game.
Why has Ross done much of what he has done this game? Only he knows, and he can think about it while he’s riding the bench the next coupl;e of games!
Single for Delluci. One on, one out.
Who’s coming up? Chase Utley.
Hope Delluci forgets who he is and tries to steal. LaRue will gun him down.
Franklin is lulling me to sleep.
Who else is available in the pen??? Yeah this guy makes me nervous, he missed the zone by three feet that last pitch!
Wow. Important K by Franklin. K’d Utley, of all people.
Yeah! They’ve been pitching Utley very tough in the late innings.
I hope Narron knows what he is doing.
Walked Howard intentionally.
I think that’s stupid. Puts the winning run in scoring position.
Howard’s good, but he’s not Barry Bonds. I think this is a bad move by Narron.
Wow! Intentional walk even though first base isn’t open.
Then he gets the K against Utley.
If this move works, Narron is a genius.
If it doesn’t, he’s an idiot.
Never mind, the pitcher’s spot was next. Not a terrible move by Narron.
Still…I hope it works. This guy isn’t an awful hitter.
and the Phillies’ fans are saying they hope Charlie Manuel knows what he is doing.
Randy Wolf pinch-hitting. Here we go with the pitchers at-bat.
A pinch hitting pitcher… this is greta… Is it possible to have a stalemate in baseball(know the answer)
This may be a long night!
No, he isn’t getting cheated. I’m scared!!!
He swings so he is dangerous.
need the K
Struck him out. Phew!
Sat em down!
That’s how it’s supposed to work. Go to the 13th, unlucky for the home team.
OK lucky 13 up now
Junior’s up…then who? I can’t figure it out without a scorecard, there have been so many switches.
At least Dunn will get to the plate…wait, Narron hasn’t switched him out, too, has he?
Nice Philly chicks there.
Now we’re talking. Heart of the order coming up.
Don’t question Narron, that was a very wise decision. Now if Jr can wake up at the plate!
Griffey-Aurilia-Dunn due.
Never heard of this Phillies pitcher. Hope he sucks.
Please hit this guy HARD and OFTEN!!!
I sthat a midget or a kid in the 3rd row behind home.
Don’t question Narron? After all the silly moves he’s made this year?
I’m glad that last one worked, though!!!
C’mon, Junior! Can’t you feel the love that Redleg Nation has been showing you?
I think it’s a midget. Cool.
You must be getting tired, where do you see theses hot Philly chicks
Griffey finally being a little patient. Leadoff walk.
Alright, Junior is on, Aurilia is up, Dunn is in the hole. I feel good!
Maybe I’m hallucinating, but I swear I saw some hot Philly chicks.
Harangatang is warming up.
I feel like this is Game 2 of the 1990 Series, when Marty and Tim McCarver had to call for Tom Browning to return to the stadium because he might have to pitch.
Single by Aurilia. Come on, Dunn!!!
Aaron Harang throwing in the bullpen? Huh? Hope that’s just the between-starts workout.
Looked like some easy Phillie chicks.
Please, Dunn…please make us happy.
Keep up the RISP hittin’ Adam
I want some easy Philly pitchers.
Chicks would be nice, too, though.
Another very big opportunity here. Long past the time where this game needs to be over with. . .
Sac Fly to right would be fine, basae hit nice, HR great!
No.
Really, too much of my life is wrapped up in what a stupid baseball team does. That can’t be healthy.
Dunn is 0 for 6. That’s ugly.
RagTag – it’s kind of funny when I step back every once in a while and realize that.
Come on Reds!
0 fer 6 Dunn… come on BP.. Brand New Phillips… make it happen
0 and 2 to the second straight hitter. Tough!
Take one to the wall, BP!!
DA, sometimes I think I need to seek therapy or something. Why should my mood be dependent on what a baseball team does?
But it is!
Harang warming up.. I think he may be pinch hitting for Frankiln, then possibly closing!
BP doing a great job of working this guy
Milton on deck, thats right, he’s our best hitting pitcher!
I know it I only have a good day when the Reds win!
ZZZZzzzzzz
Two on, no out for Dunn and Phillips, and the Reds can’t even get a runner to third.
Eric Milton coming to the plate. What a bizarre game.
Phillips is 0 for 6. That’s ugly too.
Hit a moonshot, Milton!!
If Milton gets a hit here, it might make up for some of his crappy pitching this year.
Now pinch-hitting, Eric Milton. Would this ever be something else.
Getting booed by the Philly fans. Long memories.
I think Jr should have tagged… Gotta take chances in the 13th
Milton got a hit!
Bases loaded!
Yeah Uncle Milty.. way to deliver a hit!
Milton did what Dunn and BP couldn’t.
Hollandsworth – newest Reds hero?
New pitcher. Who is it?
And I guess it’s Harang for us in the bottom half. What’s going on? Wild game!
Nice, Milton. Up to the new guy again. Time for his first hit, but he’ll have to try it off another incoming pitcher.
A Slam might give us what is needed to win this game.
Wasn’t the prettiest of hits, but we’ll take it… Bases loaded . Base hit now and it seals the game… Hopefully… Well lets just get the hit and go from there. Harang is closing, I guess.
Todd has to do something.
I guess Cormier is unavailable to pitch tonight? He threw 2/3 inning on Wed. and 1 on Thursday.
I’d settle for a walk.
I’ll take a double off the wall
Hollandsworth-less.
I’d rather have Denorfia, thanks.
Chambliss better work with this guy because right now he sucks.
no.
But I get a K, crap
Explain to me why Krivsky waisted money on aqquiring Hollandsworth.. Needed a batter that swings at anything? Denorfia would have at least worked the guy.
That’s 0-3 with 3 K’s, for a guy who entered the game in the 9th.
Last time I saw Cormier he was sniffing magic markers in the bullpen.
Harang in the game, Arroyo to the pen! Crazy!
OK lets see how Aaron’s pitching tonight. Some off day work I guess
This is pretty crazy.
and his entry into the game was coupled with Eddie’s departure from the game.
The newly groomed Bronson starting to work out in the pen.
Really Harang should do well.. He is a strikeout artist!
Whoa, I thought Rowand had a homer there.
Whew
OK GIDP would work right now
Is their a curse associated with the word Reds relief pitching?
Oh no. Put in Majewski!
Was this guy named after a lounge act?
OK GIDP would work right now …again
Need a K or a double play!
Throw a frickin’ DP ball!!
A catcher at second, come up throwing outfield
Big K! Now let’s get one more.
a K worls too!
Just wow.
About time that guy contributed something!
To the 14th.
I love Todd Hollandsworth!!!!!!
I don’t care if he strikes out every time!!!
hollandsworth just went from hate to love in my book with one leap!
Hollandsworth earns his keep.
Sounded Good!!!!!
dodged another bullet. let’s get some runs.
That’s why Krivsky aqquired Honandsworth, and here I thought he was a pinch hitter. Great Catch, Great K by Harang. We need to put the Phillies out of their pathetic Philly misery!
OK work the mo change
i haven’t been following the thread so i dunno if anybody else has brought this up..but bronson’s in the pen now..how crazy would it be if he got win number 10 tonight?…but i’m hoping they can do that for harang here in the 14th
Let’s bat around this inning!
Interesting thought, Brandon!!
That would definitely be weird!
From your mouth to God’s ears, Brandon. Love to see Arroyo pick up that win tonight.
Lookws like the pen will love the day off Monday
I can’t believe what I’m watching tonight. This team is unbelievable…fun to watch, if nothing else.
Get some small ball goin
This team fights, don’t they? Love the REdlegs.
Better score…Howard in the bottom of the inning
Elizardo getting loose in the pen? He’s scheduled to start tomorrow.
If Ramirez pitches he would likely be optioned after the game, Louisville’s projected starter called up. Anyone know who that is? May get the chance to see one of those AAA pitchers after all (unless Wayne can pick up another DFA)
I didn’t even want to mention Arroyo’s tenth win, too creepy.
Freel getting something going. Nice.
great walk. work that count.
Great at-bat by Freel. Way to fight.
We need you, Hatteberg.
Ha ha ha – Joe Mays is scheduled to start for Louisville tomorrow.
Good bunt, but I’d rather have had him swinging the bat.
Junior up to end the inning.
That’s not funny, DA.
Show why you are a feared hitter Jr.
I’m not kidding, Chad. Sorry to be the bearer of that news.
And I agree, RagTag.
Who is on the 40 man and open to pitch tomorrow?
terrible.
Yeah, that’s seriously bad news if Jeff’s speculation is accurate.
Oh – Louisville is supposed to play a doubleheader tomorrow. The other probable starter listed is T. Shearns, 2.70 ERA in AAA. I’ll check a little more.
It would sure be sad to work so hard on this game and have Mays start tomorrow
i have to agree, that is not funny, but I am laughing hysterically anyway.
How long…. how Long must wwe sing this song…
Maybe Bronson will get his tenth in the .. I dunno… 17th.
Let’s see if EZ can retire the side
No, Lizard. No.

Homer pitched on Tuesday…
I guess Jerry decided to send everyone to bed. this is a sure disaster.
Four pitch walk. This is not good, Reds fans.
What’s Marty saying?
Bring up Homer Bailey … from Chatanooga… give em a chance.. got to be better than Mays
Elizardo? ¿Qué se está encendiendo?
This is just stupid, putting the winning run on third with no out. Just an absolutely ridiculous call by Narron.
Marty’s on vacation. Joe Nuxhall says that he’s always ready to come in and pitch.
0 outs and intentional walk to load em up?
Oh Boy
shows a lot of confidence in the lizard.
So, why not send Harang out for another inning?
This game is over.
Who is Jon Coutlangus and why is he on our 40 man roster?
Ryan Howard is an immortal in Narron’s eyes, apparently. This is impossible.
This may be it .. but I pray not… Just get this out EZ
Why did he pinch hit for Franklin? How did Ramirez sink so far so fast from his super impressive string of starts? Why does Jerry have such a “compulsion” to get EdE out of the lineup?
I just hope we don’t get beat by the other team’s pitcher.
Jon Coutlangus was a waiver claim from the Giants, he’s a relief pitcher down at AA. doing pretty well, a decent prospect.
That was frightening.
Too bad it wasn’t hit to 3B where Freel could have stepped on the bag.
And thats why Richey should be given another chance at SS
there’s one out, 2 more
Yikes. You’ve gotta be kidding. Elizardo not fooling anyone.
Game. At least it’s over.
The Eddie move is where Narron cost the Reds the game.
ok that was a tough one to lose
shocking – poor hitting kills us again.
Gotta blame Narron for this one. Not leaving Franklin in longer, caused us to have to use Lizard
Took Ed E out of the game.
Walking the winning run to third base with no outs.
Lots of questionable moves by our manager.
The Lizard may be history after this season.
well, that and three runs in the eighth.
How do you play 14 innings and get only eight hits?
Narron sucks
Give David Ross his share of the blame, too.
Not only a loss but a wasted opp to pick up a game
EZ has been throwing junk lately… Shut theose damn bells up…. We blew it… Freakin blew it…. How many opps did we need… Man I won’t sleep to well tonight… No longer leading the Wildcard race, the Phillies are only 2 games behind us, and we’re 3 behind the cards… We must win the next two in Philly, and win the series in St. Louis or its a pretty steep hill to climb, more like a cliff.
Did I mention that Narron sucks? EE should tar and feather that assclown.
Boy do we need a 3 – 5 pitcher(s)
What If??? EE could have made a difference, he was seeing the ball well tonight
You’re all probably right. I think it’s time to give up on the idea of defensive replacements on this team. If the Reds lead by a goodly margin, they don’t need defensive help. If they lead by a small margin, then it has to be assumed that the lead will evaporate and you’ll need those good hitters to overcome the blown lead. And if they’re trying to come back, they certainly need those hitters to do it, especially with this now-diminished offense. So no more EE or Adam Dunn coming out for defensive reasons, please.
Disgusting loss. My thoughts
*Kyle Lohse pitched great tonight.
*Great game by EE. I really didn’t care for the double switch that put Hollandsworth in RF and Freel at 3B. I guess you could argue that it worked as both made nice plays, but Hollandswoth had several chances to come through at the plate and didnt.
*Why did Narron use Bray in the 8th? He was the one pitcher I didn’t want to see. He has struggled of late (he has now given up at least one run in his last three apperances). Weathers has been the Reds best reliever since July 1 and pitched out of a jam in the 7th. I would have at least like to see him face the first couple of batters in the 8th, but if not him then Coffey or Mercker. Bray has never pitched in these situations before in the bigs and lately he’s been shaky at best.
*Griffey’s misplay of Burrell’s “triple” was ridiculous. Even more ridiculous was George Grande’s call. He wouldn’t even say that Griffey dropped the ball until Chris Welsh said it. His lack of hustle is really starting to drive me crazy and he’s flat out slow anymore.
*I guess we are back to the old Adam Dunn again. Bases loaded one out and strikes out, first and second no outs and he pops up. It’s ironic that the two players I don’t want to see up with the bases loaded and less than two outs (except for maybe Clayton) are our #3 and #5 hitters.
*It looks like Aurilia can play SS. Hopefully that is one positive that comes out tonight. Narron said in the paper today that he would like to play both Rich and EE, well there you go.
*Why bunt Hatteberg with one out and Freel on first? That made no sense to me. The better play is for Freel to try and steal and then you have Hatteberg up with one out and a runner on second. Who do you want to see up in that situation? Hatteberg or Griffey.
*I also disagree with walking Howard and walking the bases loaded. I would rather pitch to Howard and if you can get him out then you have the pitcher up and you have a real chance to get out of the inning. As bad as RAmirez has been lately though it probably didn’t matter. Did anybody have any faith in him getting out of that inning? Harang was lucky to get out of the previous inning.
*What in the hell is wrong with Cormier?
*Who starts tomorrow?
*As long as Arizona hangs on can you believe we still lead the wild card?
