I’m going to say it again (if only to build up credibility the next time I want to rip him  ), but Jerry Narron did a really nice job managing that game tonight. I really didn’t think he would take out his good defenders (and Clayton) to get Javy-Aurilia-Ross up in the 9th. That sure beats the heck out of Clayton-LaRue-Javy(?).

Of course starting Thursday, Hollandsworth (the “-less” is pending) would probably bat in Ross’s spot…

You know, one of the things I really love about this team is that it’s scrappy. And if the game’s close at the end, you know the Reds have got a shot, especially with that offense.

I have to give credit to Harang and the rest of the staff of keeping the team in there after giving up the 4-spot. It would’ve been easy to hang their heads to just figure it was going to be another game like Monday.

Win or lose, this year’s Redlegs make it exciting … that’s for sure.

BTW, with Ross pinch-hitting like this – providing his 3rd PH HR this year – why did the Reds trade for Hollandsworth??? I like him, but – for lack of a better word – he hasn’t always proved his worth. Hopefully, this deal has a little Krivsky magic in it.

i agree narron managed this game well with his pitching matchups and his pinch hitters, but there was only one thing i didnt quite understand, in the 8th inning when it was tied with eckstein at the plate with 2 outs and the bases loaded they moved the infield in, i’m not sure if they said anything about it on the radio or on tv but they moved in like it was a less than 2 out situation, and sure enough that bloop hit went over phillips head where he woulda been in his normal spot, with a force to any base to end the inning i didn’t think they’d move the infield in there, anybody know why they decided to do that?

This team is showing a lot of heart. They never seem to “know” or accept that their beat. They’ve won several games in their last at bat because of that attitude.
