26 year old Steve Kelly (Reds #4 – ‘01) threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up one earned run on 5 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2, lowering his ERA to 4.13. 26 year old Brad Salmon (Reds #21 – ‘99) threw 1 1/3 hitless innings of relief.

Chattanooga 3 – West Tennessee 0

22 year old Joey Votto (Reds #2 – ‘02) was 2-3 with a double and a walk, raising his numbers on the year to .325/.407/.577.

26 year old Eddie Valdez threw 7 1/3 3 hit shutout innings, striking out 6 and lowering his ERA to 3.64. 26 year old Brock Till (Reds #17 – ‘03) finished up with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, lowering his ERA to 1.62, since his promotion from Sarasota.

High A

Sarasota 6 – St. Lucie 3

23 year old Paul Janish (Reds #4 – ‘04) was 2-5 with a double and continues to raise his numbers since his promotion from Dayton (.259/.336/.386). 25 year old Jay Garthwaite (.252/.302/.458) was 2-5 with a double and a homer.

Recently promoted 24 year old Justin Mallett threw 4 1/3 innings, giving up 2 unearned runs on 5 hits in his first start for the Reds. 23 year old Jan Granado picked up his 9th save, throwing 2 1/3 innings of 1 hit, shutout relief.

Low A

25 year old Habileto Hernandez was 3-7, 22 year old Eric Eymann (Reds #19 – ‘05) was 3-6, and 23 year old BJ Szymanski (Reds #2 – ‘04) was 2-6 with a double.

Zach Ward (Reds #3 – ‘05) threw 5 shutout innings, allowing only 3 hits, though he did walk 6 batters. He lowered his ERA to 2.29. 23 year old Jose Rojas, 23 year old Robert Manuel, 23 year old Bo Lanier (Reds #10 – ‘05) (2 IP 0 H 0 BB 4 K), and 23 year old Ranier Feliz combined for 9 innings of 1 run relief.

Billings 7 – Helena 1

23 year old Billy Rojo (.360/.427/.486) was 2-4 with 2 doubles, Danny Dorn (Reds #32 – ‘06) (.338/.407/.500) was 2-5 with a homer, and DOTF favorite, Logan Parker, (Reds #12 – ‘06) (.330/.416/.462) was 3-4 with a homer.

Travis Webb (Reds #8 – ‘06) got his 4th win, throwing 5 innings of 1 hit baseball, walking none and striking out 3, lowering his ERA to 3.26. Jeremy Burchett (Reds #9 – ‘06) threw 4 shutout innings. Since his promotion from the GCL, he’s thrown 15 innings and has yet to give up an earned run.

GCL Pirates 7 – GCL Reds 6 (11 innings)

Late signing Milton Loo (Reds #9 – ‘05) (.345/.406/.448) was 3-4 with a double. Fernando Encarnacion was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Lee Tabor (Reds #30 – ‘06) started and threw 4 innings, giving up 2 unearned runs, lowering his ERA to 2.79.
