Lancaster reports that it’s SRO tomorrow night for Mays (hopefully) last start for the Reds, it’s raining like crazy at GAB at 6:30PM, and Clayton’s hitting 2nd tonight.
I sincerely hope that during the rain delay, someone’s been watching the DC feed for the Nats/Cubs game. I’ve just listened to the most idiotic conversations ever between two guys in a booth. I cannot even describe it.
GodlyCynic, if you’re still out there after the 2:55 raindelay, which broadcasters were holding the idiotic conversation? If it was WGN radio, I can believe it.
Reds game is underway! But now I have to go finish watching the movie I started to watch in the meantime.
starting royce clayton is questionable, hitting him second is unexcusable. seriously, this is maddening, can’t krivsky or someone do something about narron, he’s a freaking madman and he’s obviously losing games for the reds.
I honestly don’t know who does the Nats local coverage anymore. They had a long conversation about players who had palindromes for names. They kept giggling to each other. Keep in mind that this is while pitches are being made that someone would randomly call out, “Rob Nen!” and then burst into giggling. Finally, Felipe Lopez came up , the commentator said, “Lopez backwards is ZOPEL!” I hit the mute button then.
this is sort of superstitious, i know, since there’s a lot that goes into winning a baseball game, but…
narron started batting dunn in the 2 hole more regularly on june 29th against the royals. since then we’ve played 19 games and dunn has hit second 12 times and elsewhere in the order 7 times.
granted, small sample size and many other caveats, but in the 12 that dunn has hit 2 we’ve gone 8-4 and in the 7 that he’s hit elsewhere we’ve gone 1-6.
now i know it’s not the single reason we’re winning games, but the statistical research does show that your best hitters should go be 2nd and 4th, and besides that, what ever happened to:
slow night on the comment board… I guess a 3 hour rain delay will do that.
Went to the Portland SeaDogs game tonight (red sox AA team), Some good young arms showed up
Hey – my parents called me from that Seadogs game. They wanted to know what “OPS” stood for. That seems pretty enlightened to display that stat, especially for an AA team.
Priority Program Update Alert: A&E is currently showing the documentary “Cleavage” with the tagline “mankind’s fascination with breasts and cleavage.” I guess they are saving the high brow programing for weeknights.
Yeah, I was actually really impressed with the stadium. It’s a really nice stadium for a AA team. Good HD Screen, nice sharp scoreboard, a little mini-Green Monster in left complete with mini-coke can and mini-citco sign.
Sox had a good looking pitcher, Edgar Martinez, looked like other teams are pretty interested in him. Once he came into the game about 6 radar guns popped up. Huge kid, listed weight at 6′0” 225 lbs, but that was probably his little league weight.
Clayton is 9-21 for crying out loud and made a great play at short. Quit the freaking whining about Clayton and Aurilia. They are two of the few hitting right now.
They all looked great…especially Bray.
I am definitley warming up to the trade, now if we could juts get rid of Narron. (Oh yeah, good thing he hit for Ed E yesterday!!)
Why would you PH for Clayton here? Help the other manager to decide to take Turnbow out? Man, Narron is so stupid. I hope it works out, but he’s an idiot!!!!
what is people’s problem with jerry narron? what exactly has he done so terrible? the players love him, he’s a positive influence in the clubhouse, the way he wants the game played is the way it should be played..hard nosed, all out, defensive minded baseball. if you seriously want to complain because narron brings in a pitcher who doesn’t come through, or pinch hits with somebody who strikes out then i mean come on give me a manager who doesnt do that every week..but on the positive side..i’m glad to griffey come through tonight he needed that badly, finally starting to see signs of him and BP coming back to life, if this offense can get back on all cylinders they could put some space behind em in the wildcard with the new and improved bullpen

Rain delay. Marty & Steve think it’ll be a long night again. The Brewers are not scheduled to return to Cincinnati again this year.

Try, I’d like to hear what you heard!
Homer’s having another great game at Chattanooga. As of now, 6 1/3 1R 3H 2BB 6K

0-0 after one.

IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT!
Hey, who replaced the Lizard with Mays?
Willy Mays? He just worked a walk!
If it was Mays it wouldn’t be the death-by-paper-cuts that’s happening tonight. More like death-by-bunkerbuster.
As it is, 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

Small world.

Nice Job LaRue.. He’s been coming around as of late.
Lopez and Kearns update
5-44, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 14 strikeouts!
Free Edwin Encarnacion.
He stings the ball every time he bats. Including that homer.
Free Edwin! Vive de Revolution..
Come on freel get it done here
That’s what I want from our bullpen!!
They all looked great…especially Bray.

They’ve gotten to Turnbow before.
Big night for Phillips-3 hits. Let’s go JLa.
Or Hatt.
O dear, let’s see how Wise does here.
taking down the guy with a HR, calling for the sac bunt, narron you are trying my patience. show me you know more than i do!
javy, let’s do this.
Why would you PH for Clayton here? Help the other manager to decide to take Turnbow out? Man, Narron is so stupid. I hope it works out, but he’s an idiot!!!!
Come on, Javy!
Nice job, Javy. Junior time.
OK, Jr. Now is *not* the time to pull the grounder to second.
yeah dog
Junior comes through!!
Could not have been a better guy for that to happen to…Junior breaking out of his slump starting now!!!

Damn you, raindelay! I missed a great game due to sleep!
Or a great ending, anyway.
AND the first homer from Edwin in a long while, as I recall.
