No, Bronson Arroyo won’t be pitching, and Brandon Phillips, Aaron Harang, and others were screwed out of a roster spot, but you know you’ll be watching anyway.

I paint Marvin Miller as a good guy. A pure union man that helped player protect their rights.
If you haven’t read the book, “Lords of the Realm: A History of Baseball” then give it a read. It changed my mind about who were the bad guys and the good guys.
The worst thing to happen to baseball was salary arbitration. It has had more to do with inflated salaries than anything else and it was the owners’ mistake it was put into place.
You think Adam Dunn wants to go to Pittsburgh instead of Bermuda just to do the home run derby and not play in the All-Star game? I doubt it. Although, I don’t understand why they don’t take the top 8 All Star HR hitters. Pujols didn’t participate, I can only guess he was asked and turned it down.

What time does the @#$% thing start?
The pregame crap is a testament to boredom.
Start time pool anyone? I say 8:36 first pitch.
Best All-Star memory?
Interesting NL uniforms.
Did Charlie Finley become the commissioner?
Talk about overstocking on ChiSox!!!
How did Cano get on the team?
I love it when a host like Pittsburgh gets to cheer its own!!!
Go, Sanchez!!
Atta boy, Bay!!!
My best all star memory was 1977 introductions. Seven Reds… you thought it was never going to end. Made me so proud.
You mean the game isn’t sponsored by JTM and Red Roof Inn?
Joe Buck is a dork!
Anyone remember when the Reds tried to trade for Brad Penny and ended up with Brian Moehler? No? You all blocked that memory out too?
You wouldn’t want Penny. He throws too hard! We always go after the guys that can’t break a pane of glass with their heater.
Plus Penny has movement on his fastball. We want those guys who throw it nice and flat.
Nice for Garner to have starting pitching for a change.
Can Penny hit 100 MPH tonight?
Moehler + Estes + Dempster > Penny = Bowden’s fuzzy math.
Moehler + Estes + Dempster = CRAP
Those are jaded words, Jim. Don’t you remember the deep run in the playoffs that the Reds made in 2002 after acquiring those three?
I remember their 6.00+ ERA’s. Wasn’t Mohler like limited to 70-80 pitches because of some tired arm syndrome.
Didn’t all three of them leave the Reds as soon as possible after ripping the team through the media?
Estes did some major ripping as I remember. Dempster was non-renewed once he hurt his arm.
We request that Sister Daedalus temporarily remove the Voodoo Albert curse for tonight only.
it is strange to root FOR pujols, isn’t it?
I beat Ryan Howard.
Try your luck.
Guillen is going to manage it like it’s the 7th game of the World Series because 25% of the team is his players.
Clemente was a great but the fans/media/ownership complained all during his career that he wouldn’t play hurt.
Guillen is going to manage it like it’s the 7th game of the World Series because 25% of the team is his players.
I used to like him. But he’s rapidly moving closer to the ninth circle of baseball hell. (The tenth includes Steinbrenner, Selig, Fehr, and Boras.)
Early choice for MVP?
Beltran?
Maybe Joe Buck will get hit in the head.
Why are they doing this after four innings? I mean, this game will never be over.
Arroyo’s out there on the mound warming up, looks like he’ll pitch the 5th
Question of curiosity, daedalus.
What circle does Marvin Miller occupy?
This presentation ceremony was brought to you by Burger King.
for 1981, he’s been assigned to dig to a new level that no one inhabits yet.
yay!!!
What’s with the black sleeves on the home jersey?

too bad that creepy burger kin gcan’t die in a plane crash.
i don’t mean that to be insensitive – i mean that’s how i fell about having corporate sponsorship of clemente’s memory. and that king is just creepy.
Little glove work helping out BA!
The commissioner is to blame for the 1981 stupidity.
The Burger King ad agency has to be heavy drug users. Their commercials are way out there.
they’re all to blame. free agency is the second worst thing to ever happen to baseball. (DH is first.)
If I was at the game I would be having some of those chili cheese fries that PNC has. They are mighty tasty.

Who ever thought that Gary Matthews, Jr. would ever be an All-Star?
It will be nice for Cleveland when they can get a real leadoff man and move Sizemore down to the three spot.
owners suck.
except castellini.
unless he trades dunn or kearns instead of lopez.
stale peanuts suck, too.
Fuentes has the AL puzzled with that LH motion.
Read that book and see what jerks Busch and O’Malley were. They make Steinbrenner look like a saint.
I’m going to bed at 11:00.
On the subject of Home Run Derby, why don’t they just take the top eight HR hitters at the break?
Ever think NBC will get baseball rights again?
Jim,
You think Adam Dunn wants to go to Pittsburgh instead of Bermuda just to do the home run derby and not play in the All-Star game? I doubt it. Although, I don’t understand why they don’t take the top 8 All Star HR hitters. Pujols didn’t participate, I can only guess he was asked and turned it down.
i don’t want to think about tv rights.
pujols did turn it down because of the oblique
It should be offered to the top eight then keep going down the list until they get eight. What is the prize for winning?
Scott Kazmir pitching in the All-Star game while Chris Gruler struggles in rookie ball.
i still don’t understand why he’s all AS
Did Dunn tag along with Junior to Bermuda?
i mean turnbow
Crawford seemed a more deserving Devil Ray.
Turnbow is one ugly dude and he better not blow this lead.
Get that girl away from the Wrights. How annoying!!!
Albert is MVP for his defense tonight.
Little trivia related to “God Bless America.”
Is Wright playing the whole game?
So Beltran is the only regular left in the game now.
Ernie Lombardi!!! Might have batted .400 if he could have run.
McCarver is the man!! States that Bench was the best ever behind the plate like we didn’t know that!!
Sanchez has played well at both SS and 2B tonight.
Someone should have invited our good friends from Viva el Birdos to chat tonight.
and Eckstein is on the All-Star roster for what reason?
He’s the guy I blame for taking a roster spot belonging the BP.
I see Little Jerry Narron is there.
Come on, Hoffman!! Don’t pull a Cincinnati bullpen act on us.
Well, Hoffman just cost the Reds the home field advantage in the WS!!!
This will be lights out in the bottom of the 9th.
Can Howard be the man?
No HR’s allowed by Rivera this year.
i blame eckstein, too, for bp not being there
not again. sick of the AL
I’m looking forward to the day when the NL reigns supreme again.
Maybe it’s the Charlie Hustle curse. The NL won’t win until Pete is in the Hall of Fame.
