All-Star team announcements at 7pm tonight. No way Reds don’t get at least two, especially with Narron as coach. Usually a team doing well gets a few. No doubt there will be some undeserving Asstros on the team.
Ahhhhh – Indians take the lead on a 10-pitch walk to Boone, who kept fouling off 3-2 pitches, and a single by Hollandsworth. Kearns threw home, but Ross then gunned down Boone at third. Does that count as an outfield assist for Kearns?
what can you say? we knew it would happen. this is no longer weathers’ fault – it’s narron’s. and if weathers isn’t dfa’d this week, well, what can you do? i guess send hate mail to narron or krivsky?
I’m glad we used Valentin to pinch hit for the pitcher instead of Griffey. We really needed Griffey to pinch hit for the best clutch hitter on the team.
So the rationale for pinch hitting for BP was what? Junior capable of tying it up. Couldn’t BP just get a base hit (maybe even a HR) then leave the fate of the game up to Dunn?
Jerry Narron is a buffoon. I blogged it when they gave him an extension…he flat out cannot manage. If they are making him keep Weathers…don’t pitch him….sit the fat, out of shape, batting practice tosser in the bullpen til he rots. Weathers must be gone!!!!!
I still can’t believe Arroyo is alone, and the loser teams stack up. BULLCRAP!

Dunn’s been kicking butt batting second, so what does Narron do? He boones him down to cleanup.
1-2-3! Way to start it! Is the good Milton on today? Let’s hope!
Ross rocks! Balls are flying out today! (Not a good thing with Milton
)
You know what else rocks? Wireless internet, laptops, extension cords, iced tea, sunshine, and MLB.TV (most of the time.)
Milton with 5 K’s through three innings.
David Ross is now tied with Mike Piazza for the most homers by an NL catcher. Piazza has nearly twice as many at-bats as Ross.
This is a somewhat wacky lineup. Phillips batting 3rd.
And Phillips is doing pretty well against his former team. Now 7-10 this weekend.
Adam Dunn is going through an RBI phase, getting hits with runners in scoring position. These things even out.
It’s better to do well in the second half than the first anyway. Hopefully Dunn will keep it up.

Bunch of bloops get it tied up again, 2-2.
Arroyo’s a lock for the All-Star roster, and Griffey had a good shot to get voted in.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Phillips and Ross. Harang has an outside shot.

Oh man – LaRue doesn’t get the start on Jason LaRue John Deere Hat Day! That’s too bad. Hopefully he’ll sub in later.
Just like Lopez didn’t play on his booblehead day. It’s like Narron does it on purpose.
It’s hot day, and Milton may be tiring early in the sixth, around 90 pitches. Just don’t give up a big homer to Boone.
Quality start for Milton. Who’s available in the bullpen for the seventh?
Big K. Both teams seem to be leaving a lot of guys on base.
Okay, so maybe it wasn’t such a bad move to have LaRue on the bench. Ross hits his second homer of the day, tied at 3 in the sixth.
Ross ties it up!
Ross just may have a shot at the ASG. Not many PAs, but the cupboard’s bare when it comes to NL catchers.
Jeez. Bailey pitching in Chattanooga today, has 7 K’s already through three innings.
Mercker.
I heart Homer Bailey.
Oh great: Mercker.
st. louis up 5-1 in 3rd.
mercker sux.
Living dangerously – walks a .200-hitting rookie, goes 3-0 on Hafner.
tie goes to runner. bleh. guy was safe.
any time mercker gets out of an inning without giving up a run, it takes me a minute to breathe again.
Hard to double up a guy as fast as Sizemore on a 6-4-3.
Yikes. Looks like Gutierrez swung at a pitch aimed at his neck.
And it was a 5-4-3 attempt.
All right, let’s go – time to score some runs and win this thing.
Must have missed that. All the more difficult then.
I’m sending Freel assuming his knee is fine . . .
Weathers up in the bullpen? Again? Hasn’t he been used enough lately?
Oh great, Stormy.
ball four. again. i’m blaming narron on this one.
Marty: “They screwed up that double play about as well as they can.”
Bleepin’ Boone.
How many chances does Weathers get?
what can you say? we knew it would happen. this is no longer weathers’ fault – it’s narron’s. and if weathers isn’t dfa’d this week, well, what can you do? i guess send hate mail to narron or krivsky?
Only problem with this is who would you use instead of Weathers? Yes, he stinks to high heaven, but who?
There’s the rub.
shoot, put in coffey. it’s the eighth inning. he could go two if needed. belisle is more reliable, too.
Who instead of Weathers? ANYONE! Why isn’t any one of the Louisville pitchers capable of a 5.00 ERA in the majors? That alone would be an improvement.
But you are absolutely right – this is not Weathers’ fault. Narron’s the one who should know better.
Weathers should’ve kept the ball down more against Boone. Whether he’s capable of doing that is another story.
That hurts. Only six outs left and the umps give one to Cleveland.
Narron tossed. Too late to take back his bullpen decisions, though.
Marty, why must you tease us with the fact that you know who the All-Stars are, but you can’t announce them?
dunn’s going to get tossed if he doesn’t stop barking from the dugout.
sure, ross, swing at the first pitch when the guy’s having trouble throwing strikes…
st louis is well on its way to winning – 8-1. bye bye first place.
Too much to ask for two walk-off GSs in one series?
really stupid move taking phillips down.
i hate this bullpen.
Well, no manager – ejected the previous innings. So who would have made that pinch-hit for Phillips decision?
5 shutout innings for Bailey today. 2 hits, 2 walks, he committed an error, and K’d 9.
I’m glad we used Valentin to pinch hit for the pitcher instead of Griffey. We really needed Griffey to pinch hit for the best clutch hitter on the team.
So . . . Bronson Arroyo is the only Reds All-Star representative.
So the rationale for pinch hitting for BP was what? Junior capable of tying it up. Couldn’t BP just get a base hit (maybe even a HR) then leave the fate of the game up to Dunn?
