  • 2006 2nd round draft pick Sean Watson threw 4 hitless innings at Billings also, striking out 5 to pick up his first save.

In two outings, he’s thrown 7 2/3 and has yet to give up a hit, striking out 9.

4 innings in relief for Watson at Billings? Tandem starting?

At Louisville, I wondered who pitched the shutout…35-year-old Chris Michalak threw 8 innings, 5 hits, 0 BB, 2 K. His ERA is 2.70 . 28-year-old Scott Chiasson got the save with a hitless ninth. He has 11 saves and his ERA is 2.57 . Also, Edwin Encarnacion hit cleanup and went 1-3 with a run & 2 K.

Can someone intelligently explain why we have to painfully endure Quinten McCracken pinch hitting when Denorfia is lighting up AAA? And don’t tell me it’s because he needs more ’seasoning’. He’s not a marinated chicken breast, he’s a 25 year old who has paid his dues and deserves to be with the big club……even as a bench guy. Gheesh. Nice site guys, keep up the good work.

  • Does Jay have a crush on Homer?
    Just kidding Jay!
Bailey has been absolutely on in the month of June.
It looks like the Reds are stretching Sean Watson out to be a starter, so far so good!

Who’s going out when EdE comes back? Obviously quinton is producing the least, but that leaves us Freel and more Freel for back up outfielders.

I don’t know why we really need 5 OF, and i’m sure someone could fill in in a desperate pinch, but it seems like most NL teams like to do it, for double switches and the like.

Could this be the end of the Javy Valentin experience? Jason Larue dealt?

  • Sultan, for the same reason we have to suffer with Castro rather than Olmedo (.335/.384/.406 at Louisville). It’s funny, couple of years ago, I remember people saying (including me) “Olmedo can field, but he’ll never hit.” Now we’re hearing that his defense isn’t good enough.

Unfortunately, Castro’s defense isn’t good enough anymore either.
