Richmond 8, Louisville 1

28 year-old Juan Castro Matt Kata went 4 for 4 with 2 2B, and 2 RBI.  For the year Kata is hitting .280/.341/.534.  Viva La Juan Castro!!

24 year-old Phil Dumatrait pitched 7 stellar innnings giving up 3 H, 1 BB, 0 ER, while striking out 4.  Since being promoted to Louisville, the first round pick of the Red Sox in 2000, has a 3.57 ERA with 12 Ks, 3 BB, 20 H in 17.2 IP.

AA

Chattanooga 5, Tennessee 1

27 year-old, Fairfield High School graduate, Steve Kelly pitched 5 innings giving up 7 H, 1 BB, and 0 ER.  For the season the 4th round pick in the 2001 draft, now has a 2.99 ERA with 54 K, 23 BB, and 84 H in 78.1 IP.

22 year-old Joey Votto went 3 for 5 with a 2B, HR, R, and 2 RBI.  For the year, the 2nd round pick of the 2002 draft, is hitting .311/.387/.531.

HIGH A

Sarasota 9, Fort Myers 4

23 year-old Drew Anderson went 3 for 5.  Anderson, the 13th round pick of the 2004 draft, now leading off with the trade of Brandon Roberts, is hitting .282/.345/.432.

LOW A

Dayton 2, Southwest Michigan 0

20 year-old Johnny Cueto, continues to dominate at Dayton.  The non-drafted Dominican pitched 6.2 innings, gave up 3 H, 3 BB, and struck out 2.  For the season he has a 2.71 ERA with 76 K, 14 BB, and 48 H in 69.2 IP.

24 year-old Bobby Mosby went 2 for 3 with a 2B, BB, HR, and 2 RBI.  For the season, the 25th round pick of the 2002 draft is hitting .280/.346/.466.

    Glad to see Phil Dumatrait begin to right the ship at AAA. Saw his debut game against Scranton and the Red Barons blistered the Bats’ staff for 18 hits. Hopefully, Dumatrait has turned a corner. Still, it’s early. Also, the Bats are now just two games out of first place in the IL West. Hope they can keep it up.

    Meanwhile, the Lookouts continue to roll. Looks like their be in the postseason.
