Misc. ramblings

Turned off the game and went to bed last night right after White gave up the homer, last conscious thought being “What’s this clown doing on a major league roster?”. Then, on the local “Two Angry Guys” show this morning, they were talking about him having a contract that has a “no release – no trade” clause until the middle of this month.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Bringing up Joe Mays makes no sense to me. I agree with Chad, it smacks of a Jim Bowden move (or a Dan O’Brien one)…promoting one of “your guys” when they have no place on the ballclub and no credentials for being here. Is he here in long relief or are they going to drop someone (you would have to believe Claussen) out of the rotation. Would you rather have Claussen or Mays in the rotation?

In the FWIW department, Robert Manuel has pitched well thus far for Dayton. He’s thrown 9.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 earned run. He’s walked one and struck out 6.

But he’s miles from the big leagues and this deal still makes no sense to me.

Adam Rosales was activated from the injured list in Sarasota yesterday, it’ll be interesting to see what they do there at SS. Who plays SS, he or Janish? Do they move one of them? If so, where? 2B? 3B?

Enquirer says the Griffey has pulled into 3rd place in All-Star voting for OFers. The 1st two are A.Jones and C.Beltran. How often are all 3 starting OFers centerfielders?
