Tonight in Louisville, one of the Reds top pitching prospects, Phil Dumatrait, will be making his AAA debut for the Bats.
If Dumatrait hadn’t lost an entire year (2003) to injuries, he might already be at the back end of the Reds rotation. He’s had success everywhere he’s been in the minors. I’m looking forward to seeing how well he performs against AAA competition.

I think Dumatrait was injured all of 2004. 2005 was his re-establishing year, where he managed to show that he could come back and still pitch. He basically picked up where he left off in terms of level advancement, so without the injury he’d probably be in the same situation as a guy like Germano.
It will be interesting to see how he takes to AAA. Was there a roster move at Louisville to accommodate the promotion?
I wonder what Steve Kelly thinks about having to stay in AA.
I don’t remember if they were related, but the Reds recently cut Daryll May.
