Louisville 9 – Pawtucket 3

Louisville collected 11 hits, 2 each by Olmedo, Denorfia, Gutierrez, Kata, and Sanchez for 10 of the 11. Darrell May threw 7 innings, giving up 3 earned runs. Ryan Wagner pitched a scoreless ninth.

AA

Tennessee 4 – Chattanooga 2

Chattanooga had their 7 game winning streak broken.

Joey Votto was 2-4 and hit his 8th homer of the season.

Phil Dumatrait was ineffective, giving up 4 earned runs in 5 innings. 25 year old Ben Kozlowski gave the Lookouts 2 scoreless innings of relief.

High A

Sarasota 6 – Palm Beach 5

DOTF favorite Drew Anderson’s RBI single in the bottom of the 9th enabled the Reds to pull out a come from behind win over Palm Beach. Anderson had two hits on the night, as did 25 year old Jeremiah Piepkorn and 22 year old Cody Strait.

2005’s 5th round pick James Avery struggled, giving up 5 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. The Reds bullpen pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings, by Abe Woody, Guerrero (?), and Jim Abbott.

Low A

South Bend 2 – Dayton 1

The Dragons wasted a very good night by their pitching staff. Phillipe Valiquette had his best start since coming off the DL, giving up 2 earned runs and 5 hits in 4 innings of work, while striking out 6. The Dragons bullpen pitched 4 scoreless innings with Jeff Stevens throwing 3 innings of one hit baseball.

Offensively, BJ Szymanski continued his hot May with 2 hits including a double.
