The rubber match of the three-game series with the Nationals is tonight, and Bronson Arroyo takes to the hill for the Redlegs. The Nats counter with Cincinnati-native Zach Day, who sports a Milton-like ERA.
Of course, the Nationals have been hammering the ball, while the Reds offense has struggled recently, so anything could happen tonight.
Discuss the game here.
I don’t know what the lineups look like yet, but what do you think about Lopez moving up to #1 and Kearns #2 when Freel doesn’t start? How would your lineup card look?
Lopez
Kearns
Griffey
Dunn
Encarnacion
Hatteberg
Phillips
Ross
Arroyo
The real life lineup tonight looks like this:
López
Encarnacion
Griffey
Dunn
Kearns
Hatteberg
Phillips
Ross
Arroyo
Hey guys, first time, long time. Looks like mlb.com is flaking out on me and I’ve been searching old forums – Didn’t someone post a link to alternate online broadcasts here? Thanks. Dying to listen in PDX,OR
Argh. Finally back on. Carry on.
Go Reds; Go Krogering.
That link would be handy for future reference, tho.
Thanks. AD
Good start for Bronson.
Reds got ripped on the blown call by the 2B ump.
Lopez
Kearns
Griffey
Dunn
Encarnacion
Hatteberg
Phillips
Ross
Arroyo

Wrong again, pal.
I think Kearns hitting after Dunn works.
Arroyo’s stuff looks pretty nasty today.
“Wrong again, pal.”
He was just speculating, dude.
I’m trying to understand why people want to make things personal when we are supposed to talk Reds baseball here.
“I’m trying to understand why people want to make things personal when we are supposed to talk Reds baseball here.”
Amen to that.
Go REDS!
Hope Kearns continues the hot streak here.
Maybe Phillips’ luck is changing.
Phillips is going to be hot and cold until he learns better plate discipline. His hot streaks are very good, though…aren’t they?
The Runnin’ Reds!!!
Phillips is 6-6 in stolen bases this year. He, Freel, and Lopez are very efficient on the basepaths.
A lot with Phillips has been luck though. He has scorched a lot of balls that have gone right into someone’s glove. It was good to see him get a flare to fall in.
Sabermetricians sometimes scoff at stolen bases, but if the runner steals at a good enough clip, they’re valuable. I like seeing the Reds run, as long as they’re better than 75% in success rate.
Time for Bronson to go deep!!!
I’m only 800 posts behind Jim McCullough. Think I can catch him tonight?
Oh well. I have a feeling we’re going to put some runs on the board tonight. Maybe that’s wishful thinking.
Hey! I took last night off! You could have caught me then!
or is Zach Day going to be one of the slop slingers that give us fits?
Two freakin’ infield hits!
Ha! I wasn’t here last night, either.
I could do a Junior and take a month off!
You have to announce that you’re day to day first.
Has Bronson ever had a 10K game before? He doesn’t seem to be the high K guy.
I sure would like to see Brandon Phillips put together a highlight film in the World Series for us!
Yeah, me too.
Comment #1 was my lineup card asking what others would do if they were asked to make a lineup card without Freel.
We all know that Greg (it’s called reading comprehension). Well, all of us except for one person knew that.
Everybody excited to see the pink bats on Sunday?
I think the Reds were swinging pink bats out in Arizona.
Let’s muster up some offense this inning, Reds!
How long was our half of the inning? 30 seconds!
Per radio broadcast, Arroyo season high 8 strikeouts, career high 12.
What is the pitch count for Bronson?
Pitch count at 59
strikeouts look good in line score, 5 pitch fourth looks better. Through four innings, 64 pitches; Zach Day 38.
Okay he just threw a five pitch 4th inning!
Is everyone swinging a pink bat on Sunday or is it limited to selected players?
the pink bats are limited to the players who are secure in their manhood. a lot of them are refusing. what do they need to hide?
The five pitch inning seems more Bronson-like.
Selected players are using the pink bats.
Kearns hasn’t picked up where he left off last night.
I’ll take Kearns hitting at this pace so far for the rest of the year
For sake of argument, and I’m sure there will be many, how about Hatteberg batting second? Left handed, bat control guy, able to take pitches, puts ball in play. Thus Lopez, Hatteberg, Griffey, Kearns, Dunn, Encarnacion, Phillips, Ross.
But do you want a slow guy batting second?
Unless the Reds muster up some hitting Day is going to be around several more innings.
Zach Day has been rotten this year, but the Reds are making him look like Greg Maddux.
10 pitch inning for Bronson.
They have may several lesser knowns look like Greg Maddux this year.
I don’t mind a slow guy batting second if he gets on bae a lot and the guys batting 3rd and 4th hit a lot of HRs.
Arroyo kind of looks like Maddux this year
!FELIPE!
Felipe for El Presidente!
What a thief
I feel like we’re starting to get to him. Maybe the runs are starting to flow.
I’m watching Wily Mo bat on ESPN.
No balls and two strikes. Swing and miss at a big curve.
Double for Wily Mo. I miss him.
But I’m glad we have Bronson.
Good thing for Wily Mo Arroyo changed leagues at the same time.
I hope the Mo gets an invite to HR Derby someday.
15 pitch inning for Bronson
Jack Time, Kearns!!
Let’s Jack the Zack!
OK is this the first one to score or the last at bat to score tonight?
Any of you guys keep score at the ballgame? I still see a few people doing that (and I do it myself). The number of people scoring the game drops every year, though, it seems.
Zach Day has been rotten this year, but the Reds are making him look like Greg Maddux.
They changed his arm angle to take pressure off his shoulder and he’s done well since then.
that was scary
What aplay by Junior!
sweet! (although I’m sure there wasn’t a person who didn’t cringe when he hit the ground.)
Who is the Nationals pitching coach?
Randy St. Claire.
Can I stop holding my breath now? Is Junior still in the lineup?
That link would be handy for future reference, tho.
Thanks. AD

This kind of game is scary — but we’ve done well in them this season so far.
8 for 8 for BP !!!
99 pitches for Day.
I think Lopez has already topped his career high for stolen bases this season.
How many pitches so far for BA???
105
When was the last time we had 3 with speed?
Thank you, Brandon.
Man, I am loving B Phillips glove.
Woo-hoo!
I cannot believe that Narron let Arroyo pitch to the left-handed Johnson. The most dangerous hitter in their lineup, and you’ve got a three left-handers in the bullpen… Wow. But I guess it worked. Barely. -j
Thank goodness.
If anyone is watching Gameday, the picture of Gary Majewski is spooky. Looks like he has a good mullet, though.
Pinch run with freel?
One-out double for Junior.
Is Griffey day to day agter the double?
Does Bronson go back out for the ninth?
no, bronson can’t pitch the ninth. he barely got out of the eighth.
We need the win…just don’t bring in White:twisted:
I’m happy to see Junior do what he has done tonight.
I swear if Narron calls Weathers number I’m going to snap.
That’s not what I asked. Is Narron going to send him back out there, whether it’s a good move or not?
And who will they bring in from the pen?
Who’s due up for the Nats?
soriano is still on the bench.
i think zimmerman is up, clayton, lecroy, maybe?
He didn’t want anything to do with Kearns — with the way he’s hitting right now.
oh, ward is in there somewhere, isn’t he?
Hatteberg has been decent with RISP
Ward, Zimmerman and LeCroy
Damn.
I swear if Narron calls Weathers number I’m going to snap.
Get ready to snap, then. No doubt Weathers is coming in.
This should be interesting
why not java man?
Beacause the world doesn’t work that way.
Time for the DEEP breath
Oh, I done snapped.
No! Not Stormy Weathers!
should we all close our eyes now?
I feel better with Coffey waiting to take over if Weathers gets in trouble, rather than the other way around.
Flip side is that Coffey never gets in trouble.
Some how I don’t think Weathers is in the league with the three guys ahead of him in saves. But he does have 9 of ‘em
Way to nibble Stormy !!!
Here we go again
I F&$#&ING HATE DAVE WEATHERS
Get Coffey warm ASAP.
I second that, Dave.
Juuuust a bit outside
I would go get Weathers right now after that.
Oh my. Forget waiting for Coffey to warm up – having him warm up in-game would be better than Weathers is looking.
Maybe he wants to pad his win stats again
I just do not like the way this is shaping up.
Phillips makes the save
Tying run on third with one out. Crap.
God, I hate Weathers.
Dear Mr. Krivsky:
Please get us a real closer for the balance of this season.
Thank you in advance.
Bill Hansing
Go Austin!…drop:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
Kearns….Damn.
I hate Weathers and I hate Ross. Both are useless.
Nice throw by Ears — for sure.
Phillips, Ross and Freel in the bottom
I feel really bad for BA.
If Weathers gets another W for that performance, I’m going to snap.
We have to get better in the ninth. I won’t have fingernails much longer
Kearns is playing right at this moment as well of an all-round game as anyone in baseball.
“We have to get better in the ninth. I won’t have fingernails much longer ”
If by “we” you mean “WEathers” then I would have to agree with you. How many blown saves does this douche have to have before Narron stops calling on him in close games?
If Weathers gets another W for that performance, I’m going to snap.
Comment by DevilsAdvocate — 5/11/2006 @ 9:35 pm
I really hope you snap real quickly here in the bottom of the 9th.
The starters can’t let this get to them
But at least it would be a W. Let’s see if Ross presses again and swings at three straight pitches in the dirt.

Comment by Dave Massey — 5/11/2006 @ 9:36 pm
Actually, I read somewhere recently that Weathers save percentage was as good as most top closers — although over a smaller sample.
Good Throw!!!
Go Phillips!
Young third baseman…
Karma shows up!
There you go — give BP a hit and a error on Zimmerman.
Nice !!!
Ok — there is the game 90 feet away.
Ross had better not screw this up
“Actually, I read somewhere recently that Weathers save percentage was as good as most top closers — although over a smaller sample. ”
Yeah, but how many runs has he given up in each of those “saves?” We all know saves is a BS stat anyways, Weathers if proof of that.
Freel is due.
Wow, why Freel as a pinch-hitter here? Where is Valentin or LaRue?
Geez!!
Freel in game on double switch, replaced Dunn, Weathers in 4 slot in batting order.
Yeah, but how many runs has he given up in each of those “saves?” We all know saves is a BS stat anyways, Weathers if proof of that.
Comment by Dave Massey — 5/11/2006 @ 9:40 pm
I’ll admit I am not objective on this at all — I saw too much of Danny Graves and in comparison, Weathers looks like Eric Gagne to me.
Damn. Wish I hadn’t seen that coming.
Freel came in on the double switch. Weathers for Dunn
Freel has not done much for a long time now.
At my count, that’s two costly mistakes by Narron tonight. First Weathers, then the terribly slumping Freel?
Thanks, Jeff, wasn’t paying attention to gameday. C’mon Felipe Jr.!
Come on FeLo !!!!
Man I hope EdE makes them pay for that.
So now we’re probably going to extra innings, and the best hitter (Dunn) isn’t in the game.
Jerry Narron is an idiot.
Why not PH McCracken or Valentin for Freel to get the Lefty Righty AB?
Another wow. They walk Felipe to get to Kearns? Don’t they know that Kearns = RED-HOT!
EE EE EE EE EE EE EE — come on, chant EE EE EE EE EE EE EE EE — everybody, now — EE EE EE EE EE EE EE
I hope we don’t have to worry about extra innings.
Oh, geez, I gotta open gameday. EdE after Lopez.
I don’t know what you are talking about that Kearns thing
Crap!! We need a freaking closer
We worry about extra innings. here comes the 10th. Will we see Coffey?
“I hope we don’t have to worry about extra innings.”
Start worrying.
Why did they pinch hit with Freel?
I hope we don’t have to worry about extra innings.
Comment by Jimmy James — 5/11/2006 @ 9:44 pm
No need to worry — but we are there, pal.
At least Coffey is coming in.
Why did they pinch hit with Freel?
Comment by Jim McCullough — 5/11/2006 @ 9:46 pm
Maybe Narron has been reading what you guys all said about him.
You know Ross would be a pretty good catcher IF HE COULD CATCH THE BALL!!
Get the win with Coffey
Bronson Arroyo’s ERA went down again tonight — big time.
Anybody have that figure quickly — after tonight’s 8 shutout innings?
I feel like Bronson spent 8 innings carefully and meticulously crafting this beautiful little gemstone, and then Weathers came barrelling in and took a huge dump on it.
I would have been think Valentin in that pinch hitting situation.
Internet radio broadcast broke up for a while, now about three minutes behind gameday, messing with my head. Appears Ryan Church caught his own fly ball in left field.
You know Ross would be a pretty good catcher IF HE COULD CATCH THE BALL!!
Comment by Jim McCullough — 5/11/2006 @ 9:47 pm
Man, that is expecting allot now of your C A T C H E R.
Arroyo’s ERA is 2.03.
Ryan Church is pretty fast, Jeff.

Comment by Jeff — 5/11/2006 @ 9:48 pm
Wow, maybe that explains why my dog is sitting here licking herself.
Bill – I know that I am expect too much from our catchers.
Dave Massey — Comment #181 is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.
And accurate, too.
Why isn’t this man our closer?
THAT was a big league play by Phillips.
My Lord! Phillips could be all ten Web Gems for the week!
Phillips !!!!!!!!! Woooooo
Thanks, Jimmy. I aim to please.
OK Watching on the radio is hard. Was that a Web Gem?
Gues it was Freel caught his own fly ball … he is fast.
My first post and sorry to be off topic. Can anyone get the video of Bronson Arroyo doing a local news sports cast on sportsline.com home page to run? I can get the commercial to work, but that’s it. Looks like it could be humorous.
Also to answer someone’s question in the middle of the thread somewhere, I do keep score at any game I attend. When I miss a play because of bathroom break, or getting beer, etc. :-), I can always find someone who is also keeping score by me, but sometimes I have to hunt for them. It’s a good way to make friends at the game too.
Right on, Jimmy! I love the “huge dump” comment as well.
It was a Gem – Makes you wonder how we got PHillips so cheap…
Was there a double switch, or is Coffey up 2nd?
Phillips has had two Web Gems tonight and the first one didn’t even get the out!
OK Watching on the radio is hard. Was that a Web Gem?
Comment by Mike — 5/11/2006 @ 9:52 pm
Yes, Phillips went far to his left and dove – out-stretched as far as he could to get the ball — rolled and threw from the seat of his pants to get Vidro.
Better win it now, cause we are taking out our best reliever
Come on GRIFFEY!!!!!
don’t forget stormy did the same thing to harang last night. i guess he doesn’t like the number six.
OK — win it right here
Junior – End this night!!
Coffey is up second. Instead of Dunn.
So now we don’t have Dunn, and Coffey has to come out of the game. Beautiful handiwork, Jerry Narron.
Brandon Phillips is still the King.
And Coffey is aces.
Heart of the order coming up – Griffey Jr. / Dunn / Kearns. Or would be if Narron hadn’t taken Dunn out of the game. Grrrr. Griffey or Kearns will just have to homer themselves.
Is it too far-fetched to even think about Junior winning it with a walk-off HR right now?
Plus Vidro had it coming in retaliation for some of the great plays he has made tonight.
He swung for the fences……but was late on the FB
Yep, far-fetched.
Too far-fetched.
Aaahhh…McCracken is much better than Dunn.
Nice inning, Coffey.
Didn’t Narron do this once earler this year…take out Dunn on a double switch?
How about a walk-off HR for Q ???
Back to the Freel PH appearance. You needed a freakin’ long fly ball and he sends up Punch & Judy to the plate!
BTW, was Narron here at the begining of the game? I thought he ahd a daughter graduating from UNC-Greensboro.
We aren’t touching Cordero, this could be a long one. We need to get him out of there. Starting taking and fouling.
Didn’t Narron do this once earler this year…take out Dunn on a double switch?
Comment by Mike — 5/11/2006 @ 9:56 pm
I don’t really disagree with getting Dunn’s glove out of a tie game like this in extra innings.
freel didn’t pinch hit. he came in on a double switch prior to that inning.
I hope Narron isn’t at the game. That would explain a lot, and make me like him a lot more.
Could this game reach the top ten in total posts for a single game???
Cordero is prone to the long ball though. Maybe he’ll give up number four to Kearns here.
Having Dunn’s bat in the lineup is infinitely more important than not having his glove in there.
I can’t believe you’d even argue that.
Nice job, Q.
White in the pen…we are toast
There is no one I’d rather have up right now in this situation, than Kearns
Narron arrived at game some time ago, presume he is in charge.
I’ll check on the number of posts.
Pretty progressive of Frank Robinson to bring in his closer right away, despite being in an away game in extra innings.
Looks like we’re in the top 3 for posts.
Number 2 is 309 and number 1 is 322 comments. We have some work to do.
I’d take a walk off double
oh, believe me, i’d rather have narron doing stupid things any day over frank managing. watch the nats enough and you’ll understand why people want to see him go.
Come on, Ears !!!
That makes it a little easier to digest. Why didn’t Freel just beat it into the ground Matty Alou style or something? Next to a strikeout the last thing you want from Freel in that situation is an anemic fly ball.
Austin could have been a Web Gem if our catcher could catch
Awully worried about McCracken…
Crap, Kearns.
YIKES MCCRACKEN! Stay on the bag, bro!
McCracken got awfully lucky there. Yikes.
Dunce cap for McCracken even though he is safe.
Looks like it’s going to be up to BP.
Brandon Phillips should be the star of the game tonight.
Hopefully, one of Phillips line drives falls for a hit this time around.
Phillips to the rescue…
Q goes for stolen base and does not slide ??? That’s even more surreal than Freel catching his own fly ball.
Intentionally walking Scott Hatteberg!??!?
More surreal than Weathers instead of Coffey in the ninth.
Phillips was fooled big time on that pitch.
For no further than that fly ball of Freel’s went he might have been able to catch it!
play on boys
Why would anyone ever throw Brandon Phillips a strike?
Testing our bull-pen now.
Why would anyone ever throw Brandon Phillips a strike?
Comment by Jimmy James — 5/11/2006 @ 10:05 pm
To mix things up and keep him guessing???
On to the 11th…Coredero made Phillips look like a little leaguer there.
Can I close my eyes and turn the volume down now — it’s “White-Time”
Wagner’s ERA climbed up to 9.00 tonight. They need to send that guy to a shrink!
Hey, Rick White’s ERA is below 5.00! That’s something.
Oh no. Not Rick White.
Phillips is back to that long looping swing that he came to us with the reputation for.
yep — I knew it.
Wagner has Rick Ankiel Syndrome.
Rick White has Danny Graves Syndrome.
i think this one’s over.
Insert curse words here>>>_________ _________ __________ Rick _________ _____ing White
Some years back a friend and fellow Reds fan proudly proclaimed that the Reds had not lost on every off day. In the same vein, let’s hope the Reds remain undefeated in extra inning play. (This is their first extra inning game of the year)
White versus Guillen
We need to seriously get rid of these old farts in our bullpen. Insert all the usual “veteran guy who knows how to the play the game” jokes that you want. These clowns are costing us wins.
Rick White to the rescue!
Jerry Narron lost this game for us tonight.
Chances just got slimmer on that one.
White’s got his usual good stuff tonight. These balls aren’t being hit — they are being shot out of a cannon
Tee it up boys
Pitchers in our bullpen I’d rather have up right now besides Rick White:
Shackelford
Belisle
Hell, even Mercker.
Maybe Ross could catch it better if he didn’t wear a glove.
Dare I say it? Even HAMMOND.
Bronson Arroyo is thinking to himself — there isn’t a team in Boston’s whole organization that this Rick White would be pitching for.
Remember that relief pitcher from a couple of year ago. What was his name? Manismillo or something? I think he went to Florida after that.
Manzanillo.
over thinking again
Here comes our club’s ability to throw the leather around.
Game over. Maybe Narron will double-swith Junior, Kearns, and Lopez out of the lineup, just to make sure we lose.
I think Narron has his head back still at his daughter’s graduation ceremony.
Narron flunked out.
Seriously, though, how pissed off are you if you’re Arroyo right now? I’m thinking Bronson and Harang are gonna give Weathers the Full Metal Jacket “soap in a towel” treatment tonight.
The question is does the big boss want to eat another contract? White has got to go.
Maybe the Reds are wanting to make the rally so much more dramatic in the bottom of the inning.
I know you guys don’t want to hear this but EE is on a pace to make about 40 errors this season.
If I wasn’t at home — I’ be going home right now.
Livan pinch-hitting. Hoo-ah. And another run scores off Hatteberg’s glove.
Sounds like the boo birds are out
Arroyo can thank his personal catcher as much as Weathers.
At this point, I think you have to leave White out there to make him sweat this one out. With any luck, he’ll give himself an ulcer and be DL’d til the end of the year.
Seriously, though, how pissed off are you if you’re Arroyo right now? I’m thinking Bronson and Harang are gonna give Weathers the Full Metal Jacket “soap in a towel” treatment tonight.
Comment by Dave Massey — 5/11/2006 @ 10:16 pm
Seriously, from what I have seen of Arroyo, he will handle this like a real pro.
This sucks
I hate when this happens.
Rick White is a loser.
Axe White and call up the 35-year-old dude from Louisville.
Of course he’ll handle it like a real pro, but he has to be seriously pissed.
What’s Marty saying about all this?
WOW! Ross caught a ball!
I hate losing to Bowden’s team. Bowden’s probably sitting in the back-seat of a PT Cruiser in the parking lot, smoking crack with some 15 year old girl.
Coffey for Closer…Coffey for Closer…Coffey for Closer. I don’t think the ninth would have turned out the way it did if we would have used him in the ninth instead of the 10th
Marty probably wants a drink.
Marty went off a little bit about how a team that thinks it’s in contention, “HAS to beat this Washington club 2 out of 3. HAS to.”
Bowden lives the good life, doesn’t he?
What’s Marty saying about all this?
The Reds have only themselves to blame for this.. Had Phillips on 2nd and no outs.
Maybe none of this happened — maybe it all got screwed up with the “feed” coming off of mlb.com — maybe we are really winning
Marty’s right.
“Mercifully” was the key word in Marty’s closing statement for the inning. Marty was earlier very careful and deliberate in saying that ALL of the Nationals runs had been allowed by the bullpen.
Rey Olmedo! Now there’s a slugger for you.
Bowden lives the good life, doesn’t he?
Comment by Jim McCullough — 5/11/2006 @ 10:25 pm
If you call being a drug-addled, sexual predator, who is about to loose his gravy-train job from MLB because he screwed things up — again — if you call that the “good life.”
You have to beat the team you are supposed to beat and to do that you have to get rid of liabilities like a Rick White. Not only do we not get rid of them but we bring them intp crucial situations and watch them self-destruct.
Milton for White who will be going to the DL after the beating he took tonight
Marty is sounding quite smug and contrite. I wouldn’t be able to announce this as well as he is doing.
Rainier! good start.
Rey-Rey !!! That’s a start.
Bill – I agree. Bowden is a pretty pathetic human being.
Your rants against Jim Bowden — while possibly deserved — are dangerously close to violating the comments policy. Smacks of a vendetta.
Looks like the string will be the longest one yet. Pity it to extra innings to get it
Ryan! What are you doing!
That was dumb.
Here’s your “spark-plug” — the guy you called God earlier this season (when he wasn’t hitting .222.
Base-hit and then thrown out at 2B.
Way to go, Freel!!!
freel has lost all sense on the basepaths
Excuse me, aren’t we three runs down?

Comment by Randy — 5/11/2006 @ 10:29 pm
Well are they a vendetta or are they deserved and accurate? What is the point you are trying to make — and why are you doing it?
That double switch has paid huge dividends!
:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
What a horridly played and mismanaged game this has been.
If I was coaching a T-ball team in that situation — I would have to take that 8 year old and explain that you don’t do that in that situation.
maybe he’s drunk.
Marty is giving it to Freel
Since the eighth inning ended, anyway.
Tonight has been a composite of what is bad about our club — unveiled all in one evening — bad defense, bad decisions, limited bull-pen.
No point, other than what I said above. While things may be true, that doesn’t mean you can say it here. Someone pays the hosting fees for this site, and that someone has instituted commenting guidelines. Just saying that you are getting close to the line, if you haven’t gone over it.
And you’re awfully defensive. Take a little constructive criticism.
We need something from you here, Lopez.

Next time, have a point — it makes the conversation so much more interesting for the reader.
See, and you’re always so condescending. No wonder everyone here thinks you are an ass.
base hit, EE can redeem himself a little here
If Freel had screwed up we would be looking at a serious rally attempt here.
Okay, EdE – let’s be a hero again.
Finally, someone calls Bill an ass. He’s been begging for it all season.
If Freel had screwed up we would be looking at a serious rally attempt here.
hadn’t
Wish Freel were still on base. An EdE HR here would be sweet.
Things are getting a little snippy – Marty is snapping some off too.
It is hilarious to see people lurk in the background — saying nothing — only to emerge with judgements that have — by their own admission — no point — and then call what they say that has no point “constructive criticism
This is now the number one most commented post here, as if it really matters.
Uhh who called Freel god? Can’t find it anywhere.
Link
Randy who are you to tell people about the guidlines? Chris, Chad, and te rest will deal with “problems” just watch the baseball game.
Besides if you want to see a vendetta, look what happens everytime Freel makes an error, its because he’s drunk…
Just seeking to understand.
Man! Is Frank old!
Belisle in the pen, lets empty the pen before a big series against Philly
If nothing else, that guy’s correct that you are condescending.
Hahahaha….good call, Pinski, on all counts.
Now the minions start ganging up — out of the woodwork like termites that have infested something for no purpose other than their own destructive “hunger”.
Managing Washington’s team will make you old in a hurry. Especially when there is no owner for three years, and your boss wears leather pants.
Couldn’t resist.
Lopez is starting to get under the skin of the pitchers
You’re right, DA. Managing Washington has to be a worse job than Kansas City. Poor Frank Robinson deserves better.
Scene from “The Natural” coming up??
That terrible Freel mistake is still the only out recorded in the inning. There’s still a little bit of hope.
Jr. on his comeback evening?:???:
Junior is up to the plate.
I’m so pissed off that Dunn isn’t on deck, I can barely see straight. Narron should be strung up.
We are talking about this game — let the other stuff remain in it’s rightful place — like the crap it is.

Comment by Jim McCullough — 5/11/2006 @ 10:42 pm
Lets keep the blood out of it this time
Bam, welcome back junior.
If daedalus is still around: What kind of decisions has Frank made to draw the ire of some DC fans?
GRIFFEY!!!!!!!
Junior — walk off HR — I predicted it guys !!!
woohoo:!::!::!::!::!:http://redlegnation.com/wp-images/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif
It was staged by Robert Redford!!
No WAY!!!!!!!
THIS ONE BELONGS TO THE REDS !!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE
Welcome back, Ken Griffey, Junior!!!!!!!
Holy Cow. What a great / awful / horrendous/ incredible trainwreck of a game.
OH MY!!!OH MY!!!OH MY!!!OH MY!!!
Maybe Junior’s knee was seeping blood just before the swing!!!
Jerry Narron and Rick White should hug Griffey right about now!
I am so glad I watched the whole game !!!!!! OH MY !!!!! JUNIOR
Oh my goodness, the Ken Griffey legend continues to grow.
On to ESPN,
They sure had to work a lot harder for this win than they should have!!
Any idea as to who the star of the game is?
Freel has to be breathing again. Marty with the slam to JB and is ride home to DC
I only hope that they will be able to look past the fact that they won and learn from the many, many mistakes made tonight.
I am so pleased with the way the Reds handled Junior’s rehab. Making sure he didn’t comeback until he was really ready.
marty just said “their gm who was whooping and hollaring like a 12 year old child has to go home with his tail between his legs.”
HA HA HA!
WOW
Marty says that DC’s GM had been sitting behind the visitor’s dugout “whooping and hollering, and now has to go home with his tail between his legs.” No name mentioned, of course.
ESPN still has the Sox-Yankee’s on. We need Baseball tonight for us radio watchers
Agreeing post 181 was excellent, add 371 to list of classics also.
I’m the echo in here.
I miss Baseball Tonight. John Kruk pushed me away.
WELCOME BACK GRIFFEY! first game winning homer for him since August 2002.

Somebody needs to email WLW and tell them Marty shouldn’t be saying those kinds of things.
Here — just copy and paste these thoughts and send them to WLW to “tattle on Marty:
While things may be true, that doesn’t mean you can say it here. Someone pays the advertising fees for this station, and that someone has instituted guidelines for these broadcasts. Just saying that you are getting close to the line, if you haven’t gone over it.
And you’re awfully defensive. Take a little constructive criticism.
Let’s go over 400

Still in 1st place:roll:
This game has been one of the most enjoyable of all — in a season that has already been chocked full of joyous wins.
I still can’t believe it.
And does anyone notice how the little minions had nothing at all to say about this game — all evening long — it is really sad….but I’m over that –

For all the relief / delight / astonishment of the win, for all the missed opportunites and questionable decisions, Freel’s base running blunder still stands out.
Anybody wanna guess what the Frisch’s Big Boy – Big Play of the Game is?????
Just saw Matsui wrist injury.. DL for sure
Results of webgem plays tonight: Matsui broke his wrist. Rowand broke his nose. And Griffey Jr. dived and stayed healthy. What are the odds?
This pretty much sums up this game:

I couldn’t say it any better than that.
On the plus side, 11th inning at bats were phenomenal, Olmedo fouled off five in 9-pitch at bat before singling, Lopez fouled off four in 8-pitch at bat before singling, EdE took three close pitches with two strikes before walking. Beautiful.

What was beautiful was that sweet sweet swing of Junior’s that he waiting just the exactly right amount of time to rehab and have ready to come-back at precisely the right time — tonight!!!!
Post 403 … well said.

Write a report up for Chad to consider — I’m sure he has some guideline that I am close to if not crossed.
BTW did anyone report Marty to WLW tonight for his comments about Bonehead???
I have watched this over and over and I still can’t see it enough. I’ve heard Junior interviewed on mlb.com.
Steve Stewart is interviewing Junior right now on Star of the Game.
I’d wager a large sum right now that Bowden is having some stiff drinks right at this moment.
That’s why it is called “alcohol abuse”
Jr. and the Reds led off Sports Center ahead of Barry Bonehead
Off the topic – Does anyone remember a story that when George Foster was with the Reds that he used to go to a hyptonist?

What happend tonight at the GABP is the best story in sports for today. The storied franchise is starting to rumble again and emerge in new ways almost every night.
I love it !!! :grin::grin::grin:

Vaguely — Foster had some really wierd quirks
Pulsating 5-4 win over Bowden’s Nats
This up-coming series with the Phillies is big now — it’ll be key to see if we can keep the momentum going now.
Actually I just found a reference to a book about Foster that mentions it. I seem to remember that some attributed to his success as a hitter.
The talking heads on Sports Center/BAseball Tonight are already talking about Shannon Stewart, Tori Hunter to replace Matsui…oh yes They might call the Reds about Kearns and JR. I don’t think the yankees have anything left in the minors. FYI
