Ross to DL, Denorfia back up

The Enquirer reports that Cody Ross has been placed on the DL with a “bruised left pinky finger”. Chris Denorfia has been recalled from Louisville.

Reds wouldn’t comment on how long he’ll be here (i.e. Griffey being activated).

They also report that Tony Womack has been given his unconditional release.

Milton threw 45 pitches off the mound in the bullpen.

Wilson worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs and 6 hits, while walking one and striking out one f or the Bats. (One of the runs was on a first pitch of the first inning homer by Melky Cabrera.)

Speaking of players on the AAA-Cincinnati shuffle, Brian Shackleford is still on the roster and hasn’t pitched in a game since April 24. Chris Hammond since April 22. Belisle appeared on April 30, but hadn’t been seen prior to that since April 20. It leaves me to wonder why the Reds are still carrying 12 pitchers, and perhaps instead of a position player roster move when Griffey is activated, they would just send down Shackleford.

Also of note, Mike Burns has not yet given up a run in his first 9 & 2/3 innings at AAA. 4 hits, 1 bb, and 8 K.
