Is this team fun to watch, or what? Discuss today’s game here! I should actually be around to discuss it today, as well, and I’m looking forward to it.

Now next week, you guys are going to be on your own — pulling the club through. My wife and I are traveling to Sedona, Arizona for a week — through till late Saturday night. I’ll be following the club, for sure. But won’t be online to talk about it with you guys (which I look forward to when I can).
We are staying at this beautiful resort — check it out.
And here I thought that an attempted steal of third, with two out, off Andy Pettitte, was foolhardy. Turns out to lead directly to a run that wouldn’t have scored otherwise. He’s the King.
They’re a team possessed. Marty & Steve are singing the praises of Chris Chambliss’ teachings of plate discipline, prompted by a feature article scheduled for the Enquirer tomorrow.
Let’s see if Phillips can draw a walk here. I put him down for May 5 in the “When Will He Walk?” pool, so I hope he homers here instead.
Chris Welsh made an astute point about Encarnacion’s RBI lead – the kid is hitting well, but it’s mostly a function of the guys ahead of him (Dunn, Kearns, Aurilia, Hat, Felipe) getting on base.
I hate to fall into the trap of equating good performance with good character or whatever, but I really get the feeling that Aaron Harang gets more and more competitive out there. His focus and (I keep going back to this word) competitiveness is far ahead of where I thought it was a couple years ago.
In recent years, the Astros have been one of those teams that only has to show up to beat the Reds. Every possible break has seemed to go their way. Maybe the worm has turned.

Harang is starting strong — punch outs of the first two guys — here’s Berkman.
Nice first inning for Harang — let’s see if there are any ill-effects of him throwing all the pitches in his last CG, shut-out.
This game is key — if we can beat the “stros today and get ahead in the series — it sends them a message that we’re for real.
Infield hit for Freel ! Don’t get thrown out trying to steal.
Down 2-0 — where is everybody? I need some help here to pull these guys through today.
I’m here.
this isnt how i wanted this game to start.
Single for Kearns. Let’s drive him in.
Kearns’ first hit in fifteen ABs.
Hey, guys, just got back. Didn’t see how the ‘Stros scored. Gotta go check gameday, I guess.
Not a good at-bat by Edwin Encarnacion. I guess it’s up to THE MAN, Brandon Phillips.
Chad–
Two run homer by Jason Lane in the top of the second.
How good would it be to win this series, and ensure a series victory against the Astros. Then we get a chance to get even with the Cards next.
More than anyone else in their lineup, Lance Berkman scares me the most when he is up there.
Harang had incredible command in the first inning. Since then he seems to be feeling his way along.
Nice play FeLo — nice catch and getting the tag down.

It’ll look like a line drive in the box score tomorrow, Jason.
We need some runs. Where’s that vaunted offense?
Right there, residing in the bat of EdE.
Nice to have speed at the end of the lineup too
Nice to have speed at the end of the lineup too,
and again…Phillips is turning into a real steal!

Just keep scorin Reds. Richie playes long ball
Lets go back to back
Score another and get Aaron to finish the 7th and we will be on our way
I can’t believe what is happening with this team.
A little confidence is a great thing
The Reds are just doing what hte rest of the league has been doing to the Reds for years

Just call him find a way Phillips.RBI .Hustle from a Reds player other than Freel
Anyone have espn.com Insider? The cover story right now on the baseball page is about the Reds. Big picture of Arroyo doing his goose kick windup.
I know it would be greedy ’cause I asked for 7 innings, but is a complete game to much to ask?

Dunn quote of the day, from the Official site:
Adam Dunn, who hasn’t homered since April 17, says his drought is designed to buy Griffey some time.
“I’m trying to wait to start hitting homers while he’s out,” Dunn said. “I don’t want to get too far ahead of him.”
The Reds were just getting some suprise love from the Cub’s TV guys
The Reds will be in trouble if White comes in..3B for EE…stay hot baby
Phillips isn’t walking here
Oh no! A walk to Phillips!
WOW a walk with a runner on third
It’s amazing, our starters, as much as we were worried to start the year are heads above our bullpen
Whew. Inning over Mercker got away with it
Anyone notice how Dunn steers clear of Freel in the outfield? Welsh and the Reds dugout sure do.
Dunn needs to let Freel catch anything he wants
This whole Kent Mercker and Rick White thing in our bullpen scares the hell out of me.
I think our current GM won’t let this situation take place next year. He might even fix it this year
In an unrelated item, the Bengals are on the clock

WIN!
NOW, I’m starting to get impressed.
I think the Astro’s are in shock Reds win
I knew that getting rid of Casey would pay these dividends.
We would sure like to take some mo into the series with the Cards. Need a win tomorrow.

I believe that is true as well.
While I didn’t say it previously — my oldest son stopped by at the ned of the game — I would be remiss if I didn’t say “This one belongs to the REDS”
