Spring Training Report

In Grapefruit League action yesterday, the Reds were able to score 2 runs in the 2nd and were able to cling to that en route to a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh. The 2 runs came in the 2nd inning when Edwin Encarnacion hit his 5th homerun of the Spring, a 2 run shot to give the Reds a 2-0 lead.

The pitching for the Reds was solid yesterday. Tommy Phelps threw 3 good innings in the start, giving up 2 hits and a walk while striking out 1. Mike Burns was the only Reds pitcher to struggle, he allowed 3 hits and a run in the 3rd inning. Todd Coffey, Ben Kozlowski, and Jake Robbins then combined to pitch 6 innings, give up 0 runs on 2 hits, 0 walks, and 9 strikeouts.
