Tonight’s game vs. San Diego

Here’s a game thread, if anyone is planning to watch.

Brian Lawrence vs. Brandon Claussen. A battle of 5+ ERAs. Make sure your seatbelts are fastened and your arms must remain inside the car at all times.

Rich Aurilia is batting second. Second! With an OPS of 594. Meanwhile, Austin Kearns is finally back in the lineup, but he’s batting 7th. This isn’t a joke, I’m serious.

I hope Kearns is traded soon. He doesn’t deserve the treatment he’s received here, and I can’t wait to see him flourish elsewhere.

Here’s the bottom line, though: Dave Miley must be fired.

I have refrained from saying until now because, frankly, I kinda like the guy. But it’s become increasingly clear that he is incompetent. He has no idea what he’s doing.

I’m sick of this.

  • Double play by Aurilia after a hit by Lopez…in the first inning.

Dave Miley doesn’t have a clue, and this team is going to continue to suffer as long as he’s doing nonsense like this.

  • Well, Aurilia just pulled up lame. I don’t want to wish ill on anyone, but this is the best thing that could have happened to the Reds as they are currently constituted.

Heaven knows that Miley wouldn’t have taken him out of the lineup.

I believe the shouts I heard were from about 95% of the posters on this board.

I’m not watching by the way or listening…stuck at work watching espn.com game channel.

I really have no idea why Miley is obsessed with Rich Aurilia. It’s not like Aurilia was any good last year, has shown any signs of playing even adequately this year (either at bat or in the field), has a big contact that would justify playing time, or even is the only possible option. There’s NO excuse for playing him – I can’t even think of one.

  • Veteran leadership, baby. Aurilia has loads of that veteran leadership.
